Mini Kevlar Samurai--small Japanese style utility pocket fixed blade.

Sorry for the poor photos, I only have a scanner right now.

A knife I made for myself because I needed a small stout pocket fixed blade for edc purposes.
A bit of the old, and a bit of the new.

Specs:
2 inch blade, 6 inches OAL, made from 5/16th inch thick 9260 spring steel.

Annealed, ground, triple normalised, FULLY hardened by triple quenching in soapy water!!!, sub-zero cryoed, triple differentially tempered (including one time with blow torch along spine).

Blade finish: Left as heat-treated, only polished with a 1200 grit w&d paper for a very unique and extremely durable finish which, to me at least, looks very similar to Damascus (see pics and judge for yourselves)
Fully convex ground.

Handle: Wrapped in Kevlar, then wrapped in Wilson tennis grip, and finally given a sort of Japanese wrap with nylon chord soaked in polyurethane for durability.
File-worked at butt of knife handle.

Result: Small pocket fixed blade ideal for prying, poking into any material, and even splitting small wood(due to size of blade this is only possible if you whack the spine with another hard object..ie. hammer, stick etc.)
Not a bad little SD knife too.

Thanks for looking, and for any comments, good or bad!!

Stay safe,
Emanuel Roth

Thanks Mr. BE, the finish was quite by accident as I was just fooling around with the 1200 high-grit paper after heatreating the knife. Then I saw how unique looking and durable it was so I decided to keep it this way.

Pretty cool looking! I like your original interpetation of the traditional cord wrap. Very neat!

Thank you Chiro!

Nice and original knife (the treatment is very interesting, at least for me), thanks for sharing.

Creative designs can sometimes spring surprises. This is one case in point.

Thank you very very much guys!
