Looking to buy a good, small knife. I don't always need my small Crawford-Kasper CRKT & want to carry a smaller knife. Looking for a good 2 in. or smaller with a good lock-up (no lockbacks). Any suggestions! Thanks.

Why 2"? It's SO radically different from the Ti Kasper. Shouldn't be the legal issue, as you carry the Ti Kasper. What purpose do you intend the knife to perform?

You should consider a necker like the BM160.

If you want a pocket folder under 2" I would strongly recommend the Spyderco Mouse. It gets my vote for the best all-around utility knife in that category. I think it would stand in as a credible fighter too, although no blade that length is really ideal.

I would suggest that you look at neck knives too. The Emerson La Griffe is ideal for this kind of thing.

If you can go just slightly larger go with a Spyderco Salsa! It fits a lot of blade into a 2.4" length and the grip is more like what you would expect on a 4" blade.

If you decide to go for a neck knife and want small, take a look at the A.G. Russell Hunters Scalpel. 1 1/2" blade of ATS-34 in a positive locking sheath. I've carried one clipped to my fishing vest for years and have cleaned countless trout with it. The best part is they're only around $30.

You made a rather curious comment - "good lock-up (no lockbacks)". I actually think a lockback is much more secure than a liner, though is second to the Arc-type locks out there. I would recommend the Spyderco Dragonfly.

I carry a Spyderco Toad. At 1 9/16" it is the smallest blade Spyderco makes. Great little cutter that goes along well with my large Classic Seb.

Get a Kershaw Ken Onion Chive. It frame locks, it is razor sharp as you get it. The speed safe is a HOOT to play with!

Just make sure you keep the safety on when closed!!

Best of all $30 will get you one.

I carry a Chive as my backup blade.

If about a 2 1/2" blade would be OK then I would recommend the Spyderco Salsa or Titanium Salsa. Really solid, nice little knives. The Salsa's lock is on the top of the handle, but it is not a lockback. I find it very easy to open with one hand.

My backup is a Spyderco Delica II. I like how it's relatively thin compared to some other knives out there and when clipped to the inside of my back pocket, I hardly notice it's there.

I carry a Chive as my money clip. It's a great little blade, but it doesn't really see much use due to my primary and secondary EDCs. The frame lock, and speedsafe features are what hooked me into buying it. ;)
