1. My first knife in my recent collection was the bear grylls paracord fixed blade.
2. Second was the cold steel spartan.
3. Third was an SOG seal team elite.
4. Then I got a spyderco ladybug in H1 steel and a fully serrated hawkbill blade shape
5. Then I bought a spyderco manbug (vg-10 leaf shape straight edge)
6. Then a SOG bluto
7. Followed by a spyderco manix 2 blue translucent light weight.
8. My most recent purchase was an esee izula

What should I get next?

I know its all based on preference and necessity but regardless..... What would be your first buy if this was your collection?

Ok ok ok... I'll give some guidelines in hopes of getting some cool recommendations. I like to look at my knives as tools, users.

-My favorite EDC is my SOG Bluto, its built like a tank and opens like glass. I like the arc lock and the vg-10 blade with the recurve. It also has a deep carry pocket clip and sexy ass handle scales.
-My manix 2 LW is awesome because of its size and weight, and i like the ball bearing lock just as much as the arc lock on my SOG.
-I just upgraded my Gerber BG paracord knife to the Esee Izula in fire ant red, I have it mounted on my backpacks shoulder strap.
-I have my SOG Seal Team Elite in my bag as my survival knife, i don't like the partial serrations but the nylon sheath is done right. I could use a little more length for processing wood, but maybe if it was full plain edge it would perform better. That being said I really like the handle material and the pommel as well as the blade shape and the rasping on the spine.
-I bought my cold steel spartan because I liked the look of it. The tri-ad lock is solid as a rock and the grip retention is amazing. The thumb disc doubled as a wave feature before I lost it while batoning. Which I'm kicking myself for because I see the knife as a fighter more than anything... Now I have to open it with two hands, not cool.
-I also have a Gerber BG Parang which I have used and abused.

I'd like to try some new steels, locking mechanisms, and companies. I don't want any assisted opening knives or automatics, at all. I've stayed away from 440 and liner locks because I think they are cheap. I havent gotten a benchmade griptilian because i dont think id like the plastic handle... Plus i already have two smooth knives with arc and ball-bearing locks(Basically improved axis designs to my understanding). I basically disregard Kershaw entirely. I'm not interested in custom knives, my limit on a knife is like 150 right now. Maybe 200 if I'm convinced its worth it.

I'm open minded so if you disagree with something try to convince me otherwise, I might agree.

I think everyone should have an Ontario RAT 1 or 2, an Opinel (#7, #8 or #9 depending on hand size, Carbon or stainless steel depending on personal taste, but the Carbon steel would be the "classic" choice ;) This goes for the Moras as well) and a Mora ... they are great knives and just so great value for the money :D

I think you need a couple more folders, A grip or Endura, or Delica. It depends on your price range. A ZT would be a good choice as well to get some variety.

Kershaw Skyline (or any KAI knife), ZT 350, Mora, Becker 9, 17, 14, 2, etc., Spyderco Para 2, Benchmade Griptilian, and ESEE 6 are my suggestions depending on what you want.

We can't advise without knowing more about this.

Next... is a large knife collection. :D

Seriously, what's your budget? That's frequently one of the driving factors.

And while you do have a couple of nice knives in there that could theoretically be something I might buy, it's clear that your tastes and mine are significantly different, so me telling you what *I* would get next is irrelevant, since I would not have ended up with what you have already.

Well.... looks like your collection needs a BM mini grip.... (Doug Ritter in S30V!!!!!!)

or a mini barrage :)

Definitely could use a kershaw blur....

I will say that my favorite, most carried knives cycle between my CRK small Sebenza 21 with micarta, my spyderco delica4 and my benchy mini barrage....

Sell the SOGs and Bear Grylls and buy a Delica. :D

Seriously, you're going to get dozens of different choices thrown at you that are meaningless without better info. You mentioned the specs yourself... taste and price (i.e. budget).

Where are you going with your collection? Do you have personal likes such as assisted openers, certain steels, size preferences, etc? What is your price ceiling for a single purchase? Have you researched brands to develop a taste for what you like? Do you plan to use your knives or just collect for fun?

There's enough experience and knowledge here to steer you in a good direction with just a few of these questions answered.

Sounds like you're into use rather than art or fashion.
If your knives make you happy, it's up to you to guess what may make you happier. Look at lots of pics, read reviews.
Is there anything your knives don't do well? It would be easier for us to advise a knife to fill that gap.

OK, you like users with a bit of muscle. Good theme to build on. Your Bluto and Manix are a good starting point. You might take a look at the Cold Steel AK47. There are lots of others in that vein. Again, it depends on budget.

For survival fixed blades I recommend adding another ESEE to your stable. Go with a 4 or larger.

In my opinion you need a becker bk9. I do not have one but i probably will soon. The reason I suggested this is (a) you like tough users, and (b) you mentioned wood processing which the 9 is supposed to be great at. Also how do you like the izula?

Get an Opinel!

In fact get whatever you want and just add the Opinel to the order as well, their cheap but offer a lot of performance.
