Small knife for clipping to pants

hey guys

I like to carry a knife with me (surprisingly ). I have a TOPS SSS knife. I can wear it below my clothes but that makes it hard for me to grab. The Buck knife you see in the photo is enough for hiking tours but I wouldn't want to use it as a weapon.

Then, I have this TOPS Chico knife. It feels solid but you can see the handle is small compared to my hand which makes it hard to pull out.

What I'm looking for is a knife that I can clip to my pants that's easy to use but solid. Maybe about the size of the Chico. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Would a RAT Izula work? its 1.75" longer, but its not huge by any means.

A plus with the Izula is a Tek-Lok will fit the sheath. Tek-Lok's are easy to put on, take off, and hold the knife really well on your belt.

Dunno. Maybe it's a bit too long? I'll think about it. Who makes sheaths for them?

They come with a good compact sheath from the factory. I would imagine just about anyone who slings kydex for a living can make a Izula sheath in a jiffy.

Well, the Chico is 4.5" long, I don't know how you get a comfortable size handle + blade on something that short really.

Boker Subcom fixed blade or Edit?
TOPs Baghdad box cutter?
CRKT has some decent designs on neck knives, too bad their materials stink.

Let me ask you, ideally, what size blade and handle do you think would be ideal? You might want to talk to one of the custom makers here. Mykulmorris might be able to do a file knife for you along those line (NOTE: many great makers here, his file knife was the first thing to pop into my head).

If you like TOPS, how about the Ferret. It's a little very nice neck knife. Another nice knife in the same category is BRKT's PSK. There are a million more, but these are two that I like in very small size.

Have you looked at a Boker Subcom?

I found it hard with the Chico and the Buck Hartsook to get a good grip on it.

Skeleton knives at these small sizes feel strange to me.

Yeah, I think a handle is a must.

The Chico is 4.5", according to TOPS. So maybe something in that area, 4-6"?

I just measured my Busse Game Warden and that's around 18 cm long. Probably a little bit shorter would be ideal. That should still be enough for a good grip.

Yeah, looked at that. Nice.

What about a Gene Ingram Pocket Hippo?

And for the Izula before getting a tek lok just you might try usign a piece of paracord and one of the devices that holds the ends of 2 cords - I forget the name they are on stuffsacks etc. The Izula survival kit comes with one.

I played with this, and may look less sophisticated than some options but is very comfrotable particularly for horizontal carry - and you can put it on and off without removing the belt!

So the Subcom at 5.5 is too small and the Izula at 6.25 is too big???

I think your being too picky unless your getting something made for you.
