Hi, guys! I am wondering if I could get some opinions on a small fixed blade knife that I could pair up with the TOPS Bushcraft kukri-7. the criteria for this small knife are: It Must fit within the stock sheath that the kukri comes in. It needs to be a fixed blade, Must be made in the USA. Preferably carbon steel , also I'd like it to be capable of skinning small-medium game. gutting and cleaning a fish as well as being a good knife for food prep. It needs to be full tang and preferably skeletonized. under $100

Thank you for your input / suggestions it's greatly appreciated!

How about the knives of Alaska cub bear d2 steel with a great heat treat for around $60. While I can't guarantee that it will fit in the sheath. I can however guarantee that it's great at skinning duck, goose, and rabbit. I have also used it on deer but always paired with a bigger knife. Something worth looking at though .

what about the kabar becker necker BK 11? $40, and can be finished with scales (for sale, or easily made) or paracord?

I'd suggest the ESEE 3. It's small and stout but not overkill. It comes with a pretty good sheath, made in the USA, and made of 1095. It's not skeletonized though. If that doesn't do it I'll agree with bivensb as far as the BK11. Also the BK14 or BK24 are other solid options.

I have an ESEE 3 and it's to large to fit into the TOPS Kukri-7 sheath, length wise. However If I remove the micarta scales and para-wrap it, the width is a good fit. I'll look into the becker knives, I never owned one, or considered it before.

Fallkniven' s kolt knife is more money but in my opinion is the epitome of what a smaller fixed blade should be. Comfortable works bigger than it is , ERGOS are comfy, steel is fabulous and an awesome convex edge. Well worth price IMHO.

It sounds to me like you are wanting something to fit where the Karda and Chakmak usually sit in a khukuri sheath, correct?

I replaced my Karda with a Ka-Bar Acheron. it meets all your criteria except being made in the U.S.A. If you're using a genuine Khukuri sheath anything like mine I think you will find that anything near the size of an ESSE 3, even though it may force fit somewhere, will be an awkward carry like that. But if you're wanting a bigger knife like the 3 I guess that's how you'd have to go.

It's a skel knife so you can wrap the handle too if you want.

A Bradford or something like an Enzo might fit too.

I EDC a BK14 and love it, but its a tank and dude is looking for something a lil more handy if I read his post right. Buck Pack lite, ontario paring knife, anza 13, boker woodswalker kinda stuff. He already has a big ass khukri for heavy duty.

you are correct! so many good options have been given, but most would have to be crammed into the pouch. I want something that fits nicely and I won't notice sticking out, or have to worry about falling out of the pouch.

In the meantime I have stuck a CRKT M.U.K in the pouch, it fits decently and it somewhat capable of most tasks. It's a cheap Chinese made knife but until I come across something that will fit nicely it shall do  Unfortunately there isn't a real knife store where I live so getting my hands on the blades to check for a fit is impossible

Dimensions on the pouch would certainly help on suggestions. And maybe a reason you want a skeleton handle, thickness or weight?
