kan anyone help me find a small, wilderness survival fixed blade knife (3 1/2" blade to 2") made of carbon or tool steel. i have a budget of $60 and it needs to be pretty tough because i may use it for light prying. ur suggestions will be greatly appreciated

I would second both the Becker Necker and the Bark River Mikros. You could also check out the Minis, which are a hair bigger than the Mikros.

I found the handle on the Becker Necker to be too short and flat for a really good grip, but handle scales or cord-wrap would take care of that nicely. Otherwise it has a great blade, strong, broad, and razor sharp.

I have a Bark River Micro, which I treasure :D but I would recommend their Mini Canadian for more serious work from a small knife. We found that the pocket sheath for the A.G.Russell Woodswalker fits the Mini Canadian perfectly. (You can order it separately, you don't have to buy the Woodswalker to get it.)

Bark River makes great knives. Cutting machines.

For another option, go to www.grecoknives.com and look at the Dangler Semi Skinner, on clearance for $35.00. 7" overall w/ 3" blade of 8670 tool steel. G-1 coated and powder coated. John Greco makes tough knives, as you can learn by using the "search" function on the blue bar above to search for "Greco."
