Hey Jesse, thanks for the compliments on my ramblings.
For a vry nice little knife, try finding one of the older Boker 240's. They were available in nice rosewood or stag. Not a single spring, but more along the lines of a peanut. A very compact little knife that you don't notice in you pocket. If your really dead set on a single spring knife, do try one of the Buck 309 series. My friend Wayne has been a die hard of them for the couple decades I've known him. He does everything with that little knife, and I have nightmares over some of the heavy abuse he's dished out. None of which seems to have had an adverse affect on it.
Another knife if you just want to try the pattern, but don't want to spend a great deal of money on it untill you know if you like it, is the Victorinox pocket pal. Very light weight, very slim, and very well finished off, with Victorinox's outstanding factory lifetime backing.
Of course, if you ask me for a recomendation of a small knife, I'd go witht the chestnut CV peanut. Of late, the Case knives I've seen have been outstanding in fit and finsh, and the CV is soome very nice steel to work with. Holds and edge very well, and is easy to touch up on the bottom of a coffee mug in a few minutes. Of course, you do understand that I have a personal bias in that direction.
Good luck with your search Jesse. Sometimes the search for a knife can go on for many years. Some us have been at it a lifetime, and are still happily searching, much to the distress of our back accounts and better halves.
Carl.
