What small (~2" or less) knives do you think every enthusiast should have in their collection? I see CLB's subcom mentioned often, as well as others like spyderco's ladybug, or ag russell's ultimate pen knife...

What are your thoughts? Needn't be folding or single-blade, either!

Spyderco Lava!
Best small knife I've ever seen or held, and cuts like a razor.

My must have's list would be:
Spyderco Cricket
Boker Subcom
Spyderco Dodo (2.17 in)
Fallkniven U2 (2.5 in) (no clip)

My other top favs, although not 'musts' for a collection:
Boker Keycom
Boker Subcom Variations (Subclaw, Wharcom)
Al Mar SLB
Al Mar Osprey (no clip)
Spyderco Lava
Spyderco Spin
AG Russell Ti Ultimate pen knife (no clip)

I own Spyderco Ladybugs and Jesters and they are not must owns for me. The knives don't have the same lock up and quality of the other knives with a more metal in the handle. The Fallk U2 doesn't have metal handle but mine locks up nicely and is very light.

For me a 2" knife is too small, but I have a couple of 2"-bladed knives that I carry at work because of rules on blade-length.

My actual current favorite is a Buck Colleague, a small frame-lock. The build quality is good. It locks up solid. The steel retains an edge reasonably well. The blade shape is excellent for small cutting jobs and peeling apples.

On my want list:
Case Tiny Trapper
AG Russel 2.5 lockback - 2" blade, 2.5" overall length.

Spyderco Polliwog

For me, personally, I'd say any of the Subcom series, a Ladybug, Navigator II, Benchmite, & for a slip joint, a Case Tiny Trapper.

Having succumbed to peer pressure, this week I bought an orange Ladybug 3 from NG. Its a noticeable improvement over the earlier Ladybugs, especially the larger hole. Its a good one.

I know it's a 1/2" over your 2" limit but the Buck Mayo/Waimea is one of the best small production knives out there. The titanium frame makes it light as a feather and the S30V blade has the legendary Paul Bos heat treat... What more could you want?

I have a mini trapper i got free from budk bout 4 years ago. Its actually holds an edge very well. I love it and i bought a buck trapper. Fer being made in china, it has a very sharp edge.

A lot of real good ones already posted; I also like the Benchmade Activator. (The version with G10 scales and Kydex sheath.)

Well, a little leeway with the 2" suggestion is fine. I bought my girlfriend an orange-handle ladybug the other day and she really likes it. It rekindled my love affair with tiny knives! lol...
