Small, Light Weight, Deep Carry(!!!) EDC?

I'm looking for an EDC folder to replace my old SOG Flash which I've decided to retire. It's an okay knife, but I'd like to carry something different for a while, and all my other folders are too big and bulky.

Most importantly, I'm looking for something with a pocket clip that allows for maximum depth of carry. The SOG I had was ideal for that.

Next up I want something small and light weight. The thinner the better. Blade length under 3" is ideal.

Any recommendations?

Spyderco Calypso 3 or Sage 1, 3, or 3. The wire clip gives you deep carry, and doesn't look like a regular pocket knife clip.

How about a spyderco Delica 4? More specifically VG-10 full flat grind; I love mine and barely go anywhere without it.

As Panterz mentioned the Spyderco Sage is great too. Both knives have great clips and are pretty deep carry (especially the sage).

Kershaw Random Leek framelock with S30V blade and assist opening. Kershaw 1660tgryst

Spyderco with the wire clip: Caly 3 or Caly 3.5, Sage 1 or 2 (but not the 3 because the blue G-10 might be too obvious). I think the UK Pen Knife or the Urban also have the wire clip, if you would be happy with a non-locking blade (I wouldn't).

The Mcusta Tactility has a classy looking clip that allows for very deep carry, and so does the Buck Vantage series. The Mcusta looks like a high end pen clip instead of a knife and it's 100% below the top of the pocket.

I would second the Buck Vantage suggestion. The clip is deep carry and can be mistaken for a pen clip. The pro is also one of the best values out there.

Benchmade Pika. FRN handle and a deep carry clip. Just what you're looking for.

The Spyderco Centofante is a close match. Rides a shade deeper in the pocket than the Delica on a subtle black pocket-clip, weighs in at 2.5 oz, and it has a thin blade that cuts like a laserbeam. The Centofante 3 has a 3.125" blade, but I believe the Centofante 4 (Wharncliffe blade) is spot-on at 3". Fairly affordable also. I love my Cento 3!

Worth a look anyway... :)

Sanrenmu GB 763. You can't imagine how light it is.

There's a Youtube review (along with Sanrenmu 710) that measure the weight. I forgot what it was, but having it myself, I know it's very very light.

SOG Twitch II. Similar to the Flash 1, but with aluminum scales and a quality feel that is lacking in the Flash (I like the Flash I, but it feels like a toy). Has the spring-assisted flipper ("SOG Assisted Technology"). And a deep clip, though it does not completely disappear like the Flash I. Can be found for around $42 shipped.

Buck vantage pro, slightly larger than your parameters, but it's got a great deep pocket carry clip, s30v with bos ht g10. All for around $45

An excellent choice, but I think they are costing a little more lately. Where can they be had for $45?

I'll put another word in for Spydercos with wire clips, there's a good selection these days, plenty with a sub 3" blade length, and the small low profile clips are great.
Another option is to pick another small knife you like, and get one of STR's low rider clips for it, thats what I've been doing lately, and its been great.

If you want light weight, deep carry and under 3" then you should really consider the Spyderco UKPK or Urban. Blade lengths are 2 7/8" for the UKPK and 2 9/16" for the Urban. Weights are 2.4oz and 2.05oz. Both are only 3/8" thick and have linerless G10 scales and have deep carry wire clips that are hard to see.

They are slipjoints and therefore don't lock but that shouldn't really be a problem for an EDC knife with the requirmants you have. Besides, they both have a choil that keeps the knife from closing on your finger accidentally. Give a Slipit a try and you will probably find you don't need a locking folder for most EDC tasks.
