Small manual flipper

I've recently become very fond of Kershaw's manual flipper knives. The JYDs and Groove are great. I'm not so patiently waiting for the small Ener-G so that I can try the psuenetic opener. I was wondering if Kershaw has given any thought to doing something in a Chive sized knife with a manual flipper or the pseunetic opener. Maybe a hair larger than that, like between the size of a Chive and a Scallion. Do any of you guys have any interest in something like that.

The smaller knives might be harder to flip open. Doesn't the length or weight of the blade help flip it open? Something about inertia...

In other words, the JYD2 opens "easier" than the smaller JYD in my opinion.

i can see a smaller blade opening pretty quick. you look at the really small CRKT M16. it opens pretty fast and its not to much larger than a scallion. it could work

I thought the blade size might make a difference also. But after I got a JYD, its just as fast and smooth as the JYD II.

Course alot of it has to do with getting a feel for it.

You know, some people have said that. There were reports of needing to wrist flick along with the flipper on the JYD as I recall. To those comments, Thomas told them they hadn't perfected the technique. So, I don't know, I have a Chive with the torsion bar removed on my keychain as I prefer a manual knife for the keychain but would really like a flipper knife for the keychain. Without the torsion bar the flipper on the Chive becomes pretty useless.

Ditto that on the small M-16s. They flip open super smooth once you get your technique down.

+1. My Groove wouldn't open all the way at first, but after I got used to it and broke it in, it will, not matter what position its in.

Sharp as hell, too. :)

See and my initial thought was something like that. Say, a mini-Groove about 3.25 closed.

We haven't spoken too much on smaller MF, good idea though. I will say there are more manual flippers we are looking at for the near future.

Along that same thinking, a small version of the Junkyard Dog, perhaps with a 2" blade would be cool.:).

I'd buy like six of them their first day out, no question. But I would have to stipulate that it have a lanyard hole, which the larger ones do not, so I can carry it on my keychain.

Would that be a Junkyard Puppy?

we would have to potty train it first though, or would they do that at the factory?

in seriousness, a small JYD would be cool. i would buy it fr the keychain. right now im looking for a SAK to go on it. a baby JYD would be better :D

i still want that mini-offset Thomas. you know i would buy one. and you know Kneedeep couldnt resist!

dunno if i would want a smaller Lahar though. the handle is perfect at its current size, but a smaller handle, say around 3"? i just dunno. prolly would be good i just cant picture it or "feel" it right now.

I'm going to be picking up some small flippers soon, AUS-8 or better. I recently learned my work bans knives > 6" (apparently total length) and considers AOs to be "switchblades" (banned).
