As some of you might have experienced after EDCing an emerson (or any knife with G10 handles for that matter) can wear down your pants pocket from where the clip and the handle meet. I was thinking of taking a dremel and making it smooth where the clip and the handle meet. Any input?

if you remove material where the clip meets the scale, you will affect the retention the clip provides.

if you remove too much, the clip will function as more of a hook and not stay in real well.

if you remove a little, the tension on the clip will cause it to ride against the scale anyway.

if you want it a bit looser, just bend it away from the scale a bit.

I agree with the above, you can't take away and expect it to perform the same. My pants have finally worn down on one of my pockets, but then again, they are 4 years old. I don't know how long you want your jeans to last, but I'd rather have a fully functional emerson than a nice looking pocket that only I can notice.

I think the idea could work. Remove the clip, smooth down the G-10, bend the clip in very slightly to cover for the amount of material removed, and screw it back in. Depending on how tight the clip was originally, this might be a good way of relieving some unnecessary tension, which might be as responsible for pocket wear as the G-10 itself.

I find that the G10 handles smooth out pretty quickly. When new, the draw is gritty, but after a short while it gets butter smooth!

However, still waiting for the titanium on the CQC-12 to smooth out!

you could just sand the whole scale smooth on the clip side, it still looks ok and would solve your pocket destruction problem as well.

Listen to MORIMOTOM. I'd leave er be, except I'd have er Krein Grinded!
