my bubby (yiddish for grandmother) was admiring my SAK tinker today and commented that she used to carry a smaller MoP SAK when she lived in New Jersey, but when she moved out here the poor witless goons at airport security had to "achem" Disarm my 75 year old grandmother.

so ive had my eyes open for a replacement knife for her, it doesnt need to be an SAK but it does need to be mother of pearl(or look like it) and as small as possible, no more than an inch larger than a classic SAK, and lets try to keep it under the $35 limit alright gents?

Cheers!

Apart from being well outside of your price range I would recommend either the Fallkniven TK3 MOP or the new Fallkniven FH9 MOP. Top quality, nice size, and very conservative looks.

Bubby must be worth the extra expense;):D

Hope you find something suitable. Really cool to hear Bubby carries:thumbup:

If you want MoP on the cheap, there are quite a few Rough Riders that are handled in it. There isn't a scout pattern in MoP, but there's quite a few other patterns that do use MoP. The Serpentine Pen Knife looks like it'd fit your needs alright. However, that Stockman is mighty tempting...

When it comes to custom SAK, you should get in touch with SOSAK. It can't hurt.

"Schrade" has a MOP money-clip knife with nail file and scissors for a song and a dance. The quality isn't that bad, either! And if something should happen to it, it wasn't much of an investment.

Available for only around $35 or so.

For a ritzier and non-SAK-styled piece, Moki makes some lovely pieces around the $100 mark. A few examples:
