Small or Large...What do you Carry?

Hello all! As a recent convert to the Sebenza way of Life, I am now faced with the decision to carry Large or Small. I have a Large Classic and a Small Regular, and can't seem to make up my mind which to carry as my EDC. After years of searching for the perfect Clip-On Folder, I have truly found it with the Sebenza. But now I don't know which size I like best. The small is definitely nice in that it almost disappears in the pocket, no perceptible weight, but I fear that I may be caught lacking in certain situations without a larger blade. My EDC always consists of a SAK and a Folder, now the question is which Sebenza? I would love to hear you guys insights as to which YOU choose, and WHY! Thanks! :D

As far as folders go, I can't imagine many tasks that the small Sebenza couldn't perform adequately at least. Sure, there may be the odd job where a larger folder might be handy but what you need to ask yourself is; how many times are you likely to really NEED a big folder? If your average daily needs are fairly simple why not go with the more convenient small one.

If you're the sort of person who is regularly splitting wood or doing fairly heavy duty stuff them maybe you should be thinking about a fixed blade.

My large regular sebenza just feels optimal in my hand, so that's my preferred EDC. For those very rare times when a sebenza doesn't fit the dress (more formal wear), I go with an mnandi.

I used to own and carry only the small Sebenzas but have gone to the large. It works better for me when cutting food. I mean try cutting an onion with a small Sebenza and then try with a large Seb. The large will handle it with no problem but the small blade is just too short top go all the way through the onion, requiring two cuts. Same with a good sized tomato. I think that the large covers a wide range of applications.

Large here. I prefer the feel of a larger knife every time.

Not enough to hold onto with the small.

I carry a Small Regular Sebenza when I’m in an urban environment. There is nothing the 3” blade can’t do when I’m in the city and this model is more discreet. I carry the Large one in a belt sheath when I’m going in the fields. ;)

I think the small Sebbie is a more realistic and practical EDC for normal use. It can do 99% off what it's big "brother" can do but in a more conveniently size package.

Looks like the field is pretty much split right down the middle! I am sure the small can handle most jobs on a daily basis for me, I guess I just have always carried a somewhat larger knife (Emerson CQC7, Spyderco Military, Benchmade 710, Al Mar SERE 2000...) Usually I don't NEED the larger knife, it's just nice knowing its there if I do! The small Sebenza inspires such confidence in it's ability for a small knife, that is the only reason for the dilemna. I have seldom ever even considered carrying a knife this size until I got the small Sebenza. Just need to retrain my thinking I guess! I appreciate everyone's thoughts on this! ;)

Small classic. Is big enough for anything I have need and rides better than the large for me.

Being a Govt employee, I'm limited to a knife with a blade less than 3" long. That means my daily carry rotation goes from Small Regular Sebenza to Mnandi to Umfaan and back and forth. My Large Sebbies get carried after work. :)

Me carrying the small classic for about 60% of time, large regular 20%, the last 20% go to a few other knives, mostly handmades.

Large or small, I don't know how you single luggers even make it out of the house in the morning!

:D

Professor.

I like the small too. The blade is long enough for just about anything I can think of, and the handle fits my hand perfectly. I also carry a SAK, which is the knife I use in public. The small Sebenza's blade is significantly larger and longer than the SAK blade.
