I have never held a sebenza, and if I dont order one, I never will :foot:

Anyways...I am having trouble choosing between the small and the big.:(

I like the smaller one for edc.

But since Ive never held one, im not so sure how it will fit.

I am over 6 foot and still growing.:jerkit:

wrist to top of middle finger is 7 1/2 inches

hand width when spread is about 9 inches

my fingers are bony though...:o

I want to pick the perfect size for me, so I can fell in love with my sebenza.

anyone about my handsize that uses small or big?

thanx! :D

I'm 6'1" and the small is perfect for me. The large sebenza is actually a very large knife. I would consider the large too big for EDC, and definitely not sheeple friendly.

Which one are you thinking of getting? Classic or Regular?

I don't know if the size of ones hands is the main issue here.
I got a small Classic but I'm sure a large Classic or Regular would fit my hand just fine too.
It's just that that a three inch folder suits my needs best.

Can truly understand where you are coming from! Recently bought my first Sebenza
having never held one in person. At 1st I opted for the large size, but in reality, it’s quite
larger than I anticipated. Not a monster outback knife or the like, just larger than in my
minds eye from having seen comparison photos only. I really could be happy with it every
day but desired a slightly smaller every day carry and all purpose size.

With that in mind, and budget strained turned around and bought a small size within a
week. THIS is the knife that I really love! I could not ask for better quality in either
knife, and both are the easiest to carry that I have owned due to it’s well engineered
design and proportions. In the end the small is for me for edc. Mine are the Reg. not
Classic. The Classic I understand to be slightly longer even.

From your measurements, we have the same dimensions of hand size
(of course by good approx. going on your post), and I am 6’ 2” and wear a large size
in gloves. To me a large Sebbie would be more edc opt for a XL to XL+ size glove
hand. The large size knife is still slim and fits very well in pocket, but for me as a
useable knife that is more carry legal in more situations the small was the way to go.
This is of course one man’s opinion ;-) I just prefer the fit of the small size knife.

They are worth the money.

Large does it for me. I am only 5 6" and my hands are not huge but the large fits better than the small. I wear kakies 5 days a week and jeans the other 2. Go large..............:D

You can't go wrong with either.

Chacodude has it right, you may find a large Sebbie just too big for EDC. It can be awkward in the pocket and it IS a large knife, especially if you live or work in an urban environment.

That said, I carry my large as a field knife and my smalls as EDCs.

Irrespective of hand size, take a close look at the Mnandi. Like the Seb, it is an exceptionally large blade for that size knife. This is one of my favorite characteristics of CRK folders.

I'm bout the same size as the topic starter, and found the small to be way to short in the handle for me. It would be different if the knife were designed to hook around your fingers more, but the streamlined design suffers from a handle too short to fit all my fingers on. The large fits my hands perfectly and securely. It's also not quite as large as some would make you think. This is coming from somebody that has EDCed Spyderco Militarys, Polices, Chinooks, etc. however.

I have a large regular BG42 Sebenza, a small classic Sebenza and a Mnandi with snakewood handles. I prefer the small classic for EDC and carry the Mnandi clipped to my shirt pocket a great part of the time. Quite handy that way. I EDC the large for several years but I find the small classic fits my needs and I prefer it. It just fits my hand so well. By the way I am a pretty good size guy and wear a xlarge glove and since retired have added a few unwanted pounds. You cannot go wrong with any of these choices. I do think there is something very special about the small classic. I am sometimes lured by other knives but always come back to the small classic.

I have both a small regular and large regular. I have used both for edc and I greatly prefer the large. I know it is completly subjective but it just fits my hand better. I am 6'2" and I am so used to my seb in my front right pocket that I forget that it is there. That is untill I need it and retreving it is second nature. The large rides in the pocket very well in my experience heck It was cliped in my pocket the day of my wedding 4 years ago front right pants pocket of my tux and the wife never noticed.:D

so my vote is go large and as is the mantra around these parts if you can BUY BOTH!

I wear a XL size glove but prefer the Small Seb. Reason being, I can not have a sheath showing on my belt (week days) and the small is front pocket friendly. On weekends, I tend to wear a sheath but lately its had a Strider SMF in it not my large Seb.

Not trying to start a flame out with other Large Seb users; just my personal preferance.

:)

Okay. After reading about Sebs on JD and here, I went looking for a Seb. La Bella told me to get a large, as did some others. I bought a small micarta, which I really like to carry. Met Ron, he showed me his customized serrated Seb, and told me it was a large. It is not really that big, about the same size as the Strider SNG. I told Ron that I should've gotten a large, and if I remember correctly, I think his exact reply was "DUH, I told you!". Got a large micarta, and that was it. Now I want to get a classic with desert ironwood scales, and a Native American graphic, both large. Toying with getting rid of the small micarta to fund a foray into the desert ironwood. Seriously, I am in turmoil over this. Anyway, you won't know until you handle one. Go to a knife club meeting, a show, etc. Check out a small, and check out a large.

When you tell us you bought both, don't cry to me... :D

I have both large and small classic. The small is more discrete in the front pocket but the large is the perfect size IMO (feels better in hand, opens easier). At work, I carry the small most of the time because it's more sheeple friendly :) When you get used to it you can grip it safely, the butt between the little finger and the ring finger.
Had a Mnandi too, cool knife but so thin (spine to edge) that I couldn't open it one handed, the little finger got in the way all the time. :o

well guys. I have never held a Strider.

however, I do have a SOG PE 1. It is about the same size and weight of a large sebbie.

So I had it clipped on me the whole day, it wasnt that bad.

QUESTION GUYS:

How do you determine if a knife is comfortable or not... when I hold the leatherman c301 (same size as sebenza), the end tip doesnt reach the end of my hand. When I hold the PE1, about a inch of the end tip goes out from my hand.

=\

Do you have any Benchmades or Spydercos, if so what ones. We might be able to get a picture of a small or large Sebbie next to them.

My hand is slightly larger than yours and the large works best for me.I do not have a great deal of trouble using a small but it does not feel as good as the large in my hand.
