The tolerances on this knife are very high, and the knife was quite stiff compared to the others I've got. So, last night I was able to exercise the knife quite a few times during a movie I was watching with the kids, and I was able to get the action a lot smoother and less jerky than when I first got it.

Still can't get it to "flick" open quickly as with the others, but I am developing an appreciation for how well put-together this knife is. The clip is another story.

The G-10 scales, along with the high-tension clip will absolutely ruin some pants. So, I've got a Dunlop Jazz III pick wedged in there to try to get set the memory on the clip. I plan on leaving it in for a few days to see how things turn out.

Overall, a really great knife--I plan on using it as an EDC knife for a while, but may just let it ride loose in the pocket until I can get the clip thing resolved. Blade size is good--almost there in the Delica or UKPK range--and it is not really a huge knife to have in my pocket, as compared to the Manix 2 or Sage 2, which have a much wider profile.

I really like this knife. I've been carrying it for the last week since I got it. I agree with you about the stiff action and tight pocket clip. There also seems to be grit inside the pivot area. After a couple of hundred openings, the action seems to be getting smoother.

I hear a lot of Ed Schempp's "ethnic" knives are fairly stiff. Anyone know if that's true? I have my on a few but am dubious.

I'm sure all his lock back designs are stiff intentionally. My Mini Persian 2 has very stiff action.

My Khukuri, Barong and Balance are pretty smooth - mainly because they are liner locks. The only thing is that they are not too easy to disengage. That's also intentional for safety.

I own a few of Mr.Schempp's knives and I find that this is only true for the Persian knives, old and new.

400-grit sandpaper beneath the contact patch where the clip hits the scales did the trick. I removed the clip, and it took me (literally) 5 minutes from start to finish to get the G10 scales polished down a bit so that they don't "grab" so much underneath the clip.

Tension is still there, but definitely not catching quite as hard any more.

No noticeable difference to the exterior, unless you look really closely to the area just under the clip.
