Small Pocket Knife Suggestion

I am looking for a small pocket knife that is three inches or less closed. Someone I know has been carrying around a cheap, "Made in Pakistan" lockback folder and I would like to get him something that is of better quality.

Can anyone suggest anything? I was thinking about the Case Small Texas Toothpick similar to this one:

Hello KMC,

You certainly won't go wrong with the Case line, and there are a bunch of nice ones to choose from. I kinda like the Baby Butterbean's and the stag-handled Pocket Hunter myself. If you want something a little more "tactical" looking (if a sub-3" knife can be tactical), check out the little folders made by Cold Steel, SOG, and Spyderco. The SOG Microdot and the Spyderco's are one-handers, while the Cold Steel Tuff Lite's have a nail nick.
If you want to go upscale, then you might consider the William Henry Persian or Kestrel.
You can see many of these at www.chaicutlery.com/, among many others of course.

have fun,

At about 3 1/32" is the Lightweight Native by Spyderco, available from MJ&S knives for $43 + shipping. It has a 440V blade, the class act of the market, IMHO, and I have bought 2 for friends that they LOVE. REcommend the plain edge. Smaller, I recommend the Spydie Cricket. I just got a Lightweight model with an ATS-55 blade, not so good as 440V, but still very good, and it is just growing on me. I think that it is the neatest little knife. They come in various forms, stainless steel hilts, G-10, etc.

Hmmm...I was also going to suggest the LW Spyderco Native, with the 440V blade.

Ya might also take a look at some of the offerings from CRKT. I just received a "Small" Kasper, and that is one GREAT folder!.

In addition to the larger knives I carry, I'll also carry in my pocket a Case RussLok, or a nice little Camillus Folder - a Congress ? The model escapes me at the moment, but it's 3" closed and has celluloid abalone scales, with a sheepsfoot/small pen blade arraingement. Works for me.

Anything but Case.

Reeve Umfaan.
Something from William Henry.
Benchmade 705 or AFCK 812.
Spyderco stuff, many, Wegner Jr in particular.

You can't beat the Swiss! A Swiss Army Knife is a thing of beauty and useful to the max! Go with a simple one like the Wenger Standard Issue or the Victorinox Soldier.

Take a look at the Gerber EZ-outs and L.S.T.s - CRKT's - Swiss armys all are good and in that size range without breaking the bank - I've used all with good results over a long haul! -right now it's a Gerber L.S.T.
and a SAK "Classic" and sometimes the KISS.
all very acceptable!
