I am searchin´ for a EDC-capable double edged knife from a known company. I already checked out the Fällkniven G1 - it seems to match my demands, but maybe there´s something cheaper out there that will fit my wishes, too.

Overall length: 6 - 8 inches
Steel: doesn´t have to be a real high-end one, but it still should be better than one of those 420 steels.
Sheath system: Kydex with different possibilities to wear
Price: max. 100 $ (otherwise I wouldn´t wait to take the Garm Fighter, ´cause I really like that one, but it´s not that cheap combined with the sheath I want)

I would prefer a black coated blade.

Thanks.

Quiet Storm, if you're interested in somthing similar in size to the Fallkniven G-1, but in a cheaper price range, you may want to check out the following:

Gerber Guardian Backup:

Or perhaps a Camillus boot knife:

Or you could go with a Smith & Wesson cheapie:

el cid, thanks a LOT for those suggestions, in especially the Gerber immediately catched my eye, I just have to find out the price and availability for this knife in Germany, then I will decide what I will buy, the G1 or the Guardian.

But if anyone has any more ideas, please post ´em.

have you looked at the boker applegate boot knife? especially as you're in germany. I think its a bit bigger than these other knives im not sure what your knife laws are like over there. just a suggestion

I don´t like Böker´s overall quality, the folders´ liners are considered to be bad (that´s what people here talk about the whole time) so I dunno if the fixed blades offer a better quality.
But thanks for the advice.

Hi!

Just my opinion:
In my experience the Fällkniven is waaaay superior in both design and material to the Gerber.
Nothing worng with the Gerber, the Fällkniven is just so much more.
I don't like the Gerber's sheath, the Fällkniven's sheath is kydex and is excellent!

Just my ideas :)

Quiet Storm: I have the Gerber, and it is a very nice little knife, especially for the price. The sheath is FANTASTIC! The clip is incredibly strong and secure, and you can adjust the amount of force required to pull the blade out of and into the sheath, via two toggles on the side. VERY cool design! Go to www.ebay.com, and they have several there for around $40 US.

Good luck!
