Small Regular Native American

Hello folks,

I recently placed an order for a small regular Sebenza with the "Native American" design graphics--it should arrive next week. I have several reasons for picking this particular model; I wanted a NIB small regular as I only own the "21" model and the Native American design intrigues me. Does anyone else own one of these models? If so, do you know any of the history or symbology of the icons used?
Also, as I understand it, the blade shape on the regular model has a slightly more pronounced belly in the geometry of the blade than does the 21 design. If there are any owners/users of the small regular model I would like to have you chime in and tell me your experience with the two blade shapes. In addition, if there are other subtle differences between the 21 and regular that are interesting I would appreciate some insight on those as well. Thanks!

The difference between the small Regular blade and the small Classic/21 blade is very minimal, at least the ones I've got show almost no difference. The difference in the *large* blades is very significant, on the other hand.

Hi,

You were able to order the exact one in the picture?

if so, where, I would like to buy one. I thought CRK does not make regular profile anymore.

Thanks,

Area965

I really don't know the answer to any of your questions, but I wanted to say, that's a cool looking Sebenza.

when i first started becoming interested in sebenzas, this was one of the first graphic designs i saw. I've always been curious as to what the symbols meant, if it was a phrase or anything.

Thanks for the comments folks... I am going to email CRK direct and see if they can shed some light on the symbols and if they have any particular meaning beyond being aesthetically pleasing.
Lisantica--you seem to be the queen of rare and/or obscure sebenzas--i was half-expecting a brief symposium from you on this one!
Where's Nyefmaker? He seems to have been around the block a time or two--maybe he can shed some light.

That's a beaut! Congratulations. Can't wait to see your pics and fund out what the symbols mean as I've been curious aswell.

Let's see...

Opposite pointing arrows = war
Bird = carefree
Sun = happiness
Tepee = temporary home
Horse = journey

For the other ones, I don't know. You may have to offer some free "CRK grease" to get some answers. ;)

So, in sequence they probably say...

"War leads to fire and destruction. Instead, it is better to be carefree and happy... going camping, canoeing and driving a Ferrari." :D
If nobody from CRK corrects me, it means that I am right!

I was looking at that one for a long time, but decided to get the "Think Twice" from the same store. Maybe I made a bad choice. Congrats.

I wonder if the symbols are particular to a tribe, or if each tribe uses them differently. Where did you get your info on this(and do you know who it represents)? Any native americans or knowledgeable on the topic out there that can shine some light on this one :D

How did you place an order for a regular? Did you mean a small 21?

I kind of always thought that the symbols might be just some generic ones that really never pertained to any one Indian tribe? Really have no idea, just guessing.

I have emailed CRK--I will post their response when I receive it.

Area965--Yes, this blade was ordered NIB from a dealer that happened to have one left in his inventory. You are right, they do not make the "regular" anymore--I believe this one was manufactured in 06'.
Henwha--very interesting take on the symbols--are those postulations? or, do you have an actual knowledge of them? Either way--I appreciate your input.
lemmuhj--Yes, this is a NIB "regular" model, not the 21.

As soon as I receive it I will post pics. Any other insight will be appreciated!

Thank you for the info. You are so lucky to have found a NIB regular, one of my favorites.

Enjoy. Looking forward to see more close up pix.

Regarding the symbols, you can easily find some of them in the internet.
The rest is just W.A.G.
;)

The response was quick from CRK, but anti-climactic. The designs were chosen by Lisa and Merlin and have no real meanings and were simply chosen for their aesthetic appeal. It sounds like I will have to make these symbols mean something special to me. Then again, it is just a knife and not a family heirloom!

Looks very cool nonetheless! :D

I have Blackfoot, Cherokee and Crow heritage, and would very much like to know the meaning of the totems. I had the chance to pick a large and small with this design up, but couldn't at the time. CRK's are definitely of heirloom quality!

I will take some detailed pictures of the knife, as well as the symbols, when it arrives in the next day or so. There really aren't too many pictures available out there to get a good look at each of the symbols. If nothing else, it will be interesting and beautiful to look at.

I don't like the response from CRK, I'm going with the one below. It's somehow much more elegant :D:thumbup::D:D

I placed my order on Friday afternoon. Item was shipped Saturday. Item arrived on Monday (yesterday). Wow. From the East coast to UT in one day. That made my day. . .
It is certainly a beautiful knife with all the excellent fit and finish that we have come to expect from CRK. There is one tiny flaw--it looks as though a small mark is in the CR logo on the front scale--I cant tell if it is some accidental anodizing or a tooling mark when adding the logo. It's not an issue and hardly noticeable. I am liking the blade shape--it has slightly more belly than the 21 and is noticeably different. The contrast of the stonewashed spine and the polished blade is really sweet and pleasant to look at. I also never noticed the "double-drop" design on the blade--it has a secondary drop towards the point near the end of the blade--not the best explanantion, but I'm sure you can figure out what I mean! Anywho, here are a few pictures to feast your eyes on. . .
