I just got this custom ring utility/fighter knife from Derkins - Matthew Bailey. It sure is a neat little knife. It's very comfortable to hold and is quite different from any of my other knives. The file work is a really nice touch also. It is 1075 steel, with a clay quench and there is a distinct hamon but hard to see in this pic. All in all I'm very happy with it.

Thanks for looking

The handle looks very comfortable, and plus the ring.....difficult to disarm. Maybe HI can come up with this kind of model once in a while.

DANG. I like that. He does mikarta well. Love the filework too!

Beautiful work. How does one carry it? Kydex?

Also, it's nice have a pro shooter put up pix like that. :p Looks like a spread from Knives magazine.

Thanks Mike, I'm having a lot of fun shooting the knives.(hmm, that sounds wrong for some reason)

Yep, it came with a nice little kydex sheath.

Reminisient of my oldest knife (dont laugh I was 14 when I got it and didnt have the money for anything nicer) a gerber chameleon

I wonder if it was licensed from Fred Perrin...

It's an obvious copy of the La Griffe.

I can see the influence of some of the older La Griffe styles. I've seen a few knives of this style lately.

I like the look of the steel very much. I'd like to see other knives from this maker instead of a ring knife, which I'm not a fan of.

I really like this one he made too. It's a custom for one of his clients that he posted in the Exchange. He also does some recurves.

This one is blued L6 steel with micarta

ted's become a huge influence for me as a photographer. the only one, actually, i didn't care about pictures a month or two ago.
