Do you store them in their leather sheaths?
That could be your problem.
Make a cardstock (heavy, plain paper) sheath for them. I lightly coat the blades with oil (ie gun oil, or mineral oil) and store them in the cardstock sheaths.
If they are kydex/plastic, blow them out with some canned air.
