I have an obvious small 21, B.O.D. B2010. The blade is hollow ground and appears to be S30V. But there is NO stamp on the blade. I used the search feature and haven't found this discussed. Anybody else encountered this? It has all the characteristics of my large 21 blade, just not stamped.

Yes the small seb 21 is my first, followed by the purchase of brand new, large 21.

I have three 21's, and I'm pretty sure they all have an "S" on the blade tang -- it's been a while since I took the first one apart, but the other two definitely have the "S" on them.

Have you tried calling Chris' people? (208) 375-0367 may get you an answer to share with us.

Mine isn't stamped either. Small 21 born on June 2010.

You guys do realize that the stamp can not be seen unless the knife is taken apart, right? The "S" is on the tang and underneath the scales.

Maybe that's what's going on here?

Small Sebenza 21 born on May 13, 2010.

No stamp on the blade tang.

Just to be clear, by "tang" we mean under the scales. You have to take the blade out in order to view it.

Let me pull my recent 21 apart and see if it's there on mine.

Born August 17, 2010, Lg. 21. Has an "S" mark on the lockbar side of the blade.

Either they stopped stamping them for a period (highly doubt it) or you haven't pulled the blade out.

Yes of course we realize that. I noticed that my small 21 did not have a stamp the last time I took it apart to clean. Next time I'll take pics.

I removed the blade and close inspection revealed no stamp on the blade hidden by the frames. Only the inside faces of the frames are stamped with letter of the quarter of the year and the last two numbers of the year. I did state earlier that the large Sebbie is indeed stamped with the S.

Yes of course we realize that. . . .

Just making sure - sometimes these conversations go on without the obvious being addressed.

Since the "S" was originally intended to differentiate the "new" S30V blades in 2002, vs the older BG-42 blades used prior to 2002, I would say that it's purpose has been served. There have been a couple of rumors floating around about new steel for the Sebenza - S35VN probably, so CR may be preparing for a new mark that is forthcoming.

A "V" or "N" maybe?

It's odd that mine Lg. 21 (Aug) would have the stamp and his (May) would not.
