small seb edge question

so I got my 3rd CRK, a small sebbie in S30V (late 2010)

i have a question, just that

on mine the edge becomes thicker on the belly and near the tip (cuts a "bit" less eg on paper)
the belly/tip has a lower edge or probably a thicker edge than the straight part, is that "normal"?

the PS and Ummi have even thickness/edge angles throughout the blade and the Ummi maybe even thinner at the tip/belly than the straight part

just curious, is that normal/usual because its a work knife or should the edge be the same throughout as on most folders?. Also I see that looking at the blade, the tip is nicely tippy while from the spine it's a heavy use strong thick tip wich works well and gives no sorrows

for those who have one or more, how are your/s?

thanks
Maxx

On the dozen or so small Sebenzas that I've had (regular, classic, and 21) I've found that it varies from knife to knife. About half of the ones I've had were bought new and some were about the same angle and level of sharpness from tip to heel, others did seem to be a bit more obtuse from the curve to the tip compared to the straight part of the edge. Only one of them needed any attention from CRK. The others all responded very well to a few Sharpmaker sessions.

The small micarta 21 that I carry now is just about perfect in every way.

My sebenzas have always been sharper in the belly than in the tip, and it seems the angles are exactly how yours are. Im sure its a more durable tip but you do sacrifice a little sharpness. I can push cut newspaper with the belly of my sebenza but not with the the last inch towards the tip. And that was from the factory sharpness. Still better than a striders edge imo :D

My Umnumzaan came just like you are describing. Was extremely sharp the entire edge though.
