Small Seb stronger than Large Seb?

I don't know this for sure, but I remember hearing that the small and large Seb both use the same size pivot screw along with all hardware. To me, it seems that if that were true, the large would be more likely to contort, twist, bend, you name it, whenever you are torquing or putting great pressure on the pivoting area. The large model would just put so much more leverage on the locked-open blade....let me re-phrase.... Mentally, you are more likely to use the larger model for heavier chores vs having the small for similar jobs. Anyone else with me on this one?

If the large model uses beefier hardware, then I guess this post is entirely pointless.

Peace.

The lockbar is thicker on my large. It feels stronger to me than my small.

the fulcrum point on both knives is obviously the same, it is the pivot bushing.

if one were to pry with a large and small sebenza, inserting each tip into a medium to the same length, the large blade would exert more force on the pivot.

in that sense, yes it may be weaker. but that is true of any large folder compared to an otherwise identical smaller knife.

iirc, the large's blade is thicker, as is the lock as previously mentioned (thus the scales).

im not so sure a larger pivot is the answer. the pivot hole on the blade would have to be larger. therefore there would be less metal surrounding the pivot, and it would be weaker at a different point.

I've owned both and it seems to me that the large is not just larger but larger all around including the screws used for the build and I can't swear to it but I believe the pivot barrel is bigger in diameter on the large as well as the barrels of the rest of the folder.

The lock cuts are beefier on the large. I've measured both but don't recall how big the difference is but I do remember making mental note that the large was thicker. (lock cuts are the area in the rear of the lock where the lock is narrowed down to spring the lock to make it bend) I'd have to give the strength advantage to the large Sebenza over the Small.

It seems that Chris just proportionally made everything on that folder larger. Its not just a small stretched out but a bigger all around folder as I recall.

Sounds like good reasoning for the Umnumzaan. Though not sure that a large Seb couldn't endure the same tortures. The pivot on a large Sebenza is more robust than a small.
