Hi all,

Has anyone purchased a Sebenza that had a really late lock-up (approx 75/80%)? I received one as a wedding gift from my wife - I love it, but is locks up very late and its birthday was on a few months prior. Is that a big deal? I am certainly not a knife expert but I often hear people speak to a knife having very early lock up as a good thing. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Personally, it is no big deal at all to me. I think it is overblown in importance. As long as the lockup,is strong, you are good to go in my opinion. Heck, if you decide you don't want it, please trade it to me!

That's the way almost all of them come. It's part of Chris Reeve's philosophy that the more lockbar in contact with the tang of the blade, the less likely the lock is to fail. Honestly, if it becomes an issue (which it won't) just send it in and they'll take care of it.

No blade play? Then it is fine. I've seen several with very late lockup, and they were and are solid as can be. CRK locks don't really "wear in". They just stay the same.

Your lockup is normal, very stong and won't change over time, rest easy.

Like everyone else has said, that's not a problem. That's the way the knife is designed. My wife's small dog paw that she carries every day is a 2006 model and the lockup hasn't moved much since 2006.

It's within spec. Each knife is flicked open and checked with a spacer to see if it exceeds either end of the limit. But do a bit of searching on the forums, we get this same question a few times a month.

I just got a small plain insingo, its Bday is Nov 27 2013 and its 60% right out of the box so its not uncommon. My other small micarta seb is at 50% from brand new as long as there is no play you have absolutely nothing to worry about CRKs don't seem to move much at all even with a fair bit of use.
