Hello folks. I have a quick question for all you knife guys. I have a small sebenza 21. When the knife is closed should the lock bar be completely level with the rest of the handle slab or should it be a little under the rest of the handle slab? Just curious. Please fill me in!

It should be pretty much flat, since the blade is under it holding it out.

Depends on the quality of your measuring equipment. :) My lockbars seem about 0.1mm closer to the blade when closed than the rest of the lock side slab.

I'd say it is exactly the width of a pivot washer closer to the blade.

A very tiny bit down from the main slab, this probably depends on how much use your detent has had since I'd imagine they'd eventually wear down a tiny bit. Mine's only a year old for example.

The detention ball falls into a hole in the blade when the blade is closed. The lockbar will be slightly closer to the blade, and should be sitting flush against the blade, while the actual handle will be one washer-width higher.

You guys are a huge help. You answered my question with pictures and good explanations. Thank you! My knife is almost no wear then because my lock bar only sits about half the width of a pivot bushing. :) I love my little Sebenza.....

How many ways can you say the same thing.

If you double the width of one pivot washer, add the width of one scale, subtract the width of the other scale and divide by 2, that should be the distance the lockbar is offset from the scale due to the detent hole negating the detent ball height. :D

You guys are to much! :) Thanks again for all your input in regards to my question.
