Hello everyone,

I am looking into a sebenza 21 for the future, but currently don't have the funds for it :grumpy:. I haven't gotten the chance to see one in person to compare between the small and large sebenza. I'm just curious if any of you have a small sebenza and a kershaw leek to compare the two. I'm worried that the small sebenza might be too small and can compare it to my kershaw leek easily (which I find just a tad too small) Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Logan

I don't have a Leek to post a pic, but a small Seb is a bit bigger.

Paging Nevermore1701, he's got both.

I also don't have any pics, but the small sebenza is roughly the same length as a benchmade mini grip, maybe just a smidge longer, but somehow feels like it has a longer handle than the mini grip. The mini grip is a 3 finger knife for me, yet I can get 4 fingers on the small sebenza (just barely). I suppose it depends on what you plan on using the knife for. I went with the small because it's a better edc size for me. The large is a bit too large for many instances, especially for use in public in urban settings. The small is perfect in that role. If you are looking for an outdoors or farm knife, the large makes more sense. In essence, the large is more comfortable in hand, but less comfortable in the pocket and less ideal for urban use. The small is too small for real outdoor use or other hard use, but disappears in the pocket and is right at home as an urban edc knife yet still has a very functional amount of blade length and enough handle length for 99 percent of edc tasks.

I don't have a pic with both in it, and my small is on it's way back from the mothership, but the Seb is a more substantial knife. While the dimensions are similar, it feels much more robust and filling in hand. When I got the Seb I never thought "wow ,this feels like my Leeks".

If you're still interested when I get it back, I'll post some comparison pics.

Small 21 and a regular stainless leek. The Sebenza is a bit thicker so fits in the hand better. The end of the handle also tapers on the leek more than the Sebenza, making the leek feel smaller.

A lot depends on the size of your hands, and the law in your area. The small fits my small to med hands perfectly, and is within the 3" legal limit. People with med to large sized hands seem to think the regular size Seb is a better fit.

If you find the Leek a little too small for comfort, Logan, my guess is you'll feel the same way about the Small Sebenza. As Locutus suggested, I think you'd be happier with a Large Sebenza.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate the pictures, although I am a bit shocked at the similar size. It makes me kind of lean more towards a large seb to be honest. Does anyone know where I could easily handle both? Thanks again.

Find a local knife shop or gun store in your area.

LDB: Are you referring to a legal limit in VA? I live in Northern VA and am not aware of a length limit. I've looked at the code and done some Internet research and did not see anything about the length of a folding knife. Just curious to know if I'm missing something. Sorry for going off topic.
