Tough call.. the inkosi is a 1/4" shorter blade. The rest is how you like the ergonomics. I looked at both and got the 21 simply because out the CCG on the handle.
I've had several small 21's as well as my small Inkosi which I bought new in 2015. The Inkosi is smoother not that you are missing out on much. I expect a 31 would be equal to the Inkosi in that area since they have the same improvements over the 21. The 21/31 does use a blade bushing and the Inkosi does not. As long as the Inkosi fits your hand it's good to go.
I voted small Sebenza 21 but I would have voted small regular if there would have been an option for it. I just prefer the bushing pivot and the thinner blade stock of the sebenza which is already plenty thick for my needs 98% of the time.
Not that I noticed when I had both of them. I currently only have the Inkosi after selling off my of 21's. I am thinking of buying a 31. Other then handle shape and the action being slightly smoother on the Inkosi there isn't much difference between the two. Like I said the Inkosi fits some peoples hand and not others from the shape.
I currently have a small 21 but I actually prefer the small inkosi. It’s a more robust knife all around. At least it feels that way. I loved the one I had and use the heck out of it for a long time. But sold it to buy a large.
Now.....I really do love the small 21 also. It is plenty strong and cuts like a much larger knife. You really can’t go wrong with either.
I will say that I felt as though the small inkosi took a little more abuse than my 21’s did. But I guess I gave more of it to the inkosi.
The grip is a lot different from the 21. It took me a little while to get used to it.
I don’t have a 31, so I can only speak about the small 21 and Inkosi. They are both terrific, I prefer the Inkosi just a little more because of the slightly wider blade and shape of the handle. It does get a ding for the lack of pivot bushing.
