So I have been wanting to try the small 31. I have two small 21’s that I am planning to give to my sons. I just sold a small Inkosi that I love to purchase a new 31 Insingo.

Now my questions are……. I love the small 21 but realized, after owning a few inkosi’s, that I love the feel and smoothness of the ceramic ball lock. I really love that aspect of the inkosi, but the small sometimes does not feel as good in the hand as the small 21.

Are there any issues with the new style stop pin? I am honestly asking because I just realized today while watching a video that it was different.

Looks like other than that and the ceramic ball lock up, it’s the same as the 21.

Lastly…….i have seen some people say they hate the glass blasting. This was the only variant that I could find in the magnacut insingo at this time. I am hoping I do not regret it.

I am over the moon excited to get this. It should be here Thursday.

I've owned both finishes and greatly prefer the glass-blasted. It doesn't pick up snail trails easily, so it does take longer to show character. It lacks the "chalky" texture of the sand-blasted finish. Whether you'll like it depends on how you feel about those properties. :)

I really love the sandblast feel but I am also very excited to try out the glass blast.

I like both finishes, I do have a preference for glass blast. I have found that a well worn sandblast has a similar texture to glass blast, and glass is more scratch resistant.

Also I haven’t heard of issues with the new stop pin, it’s hardened to be more resistant to flicking open (is my understanding). The S31 feels very similar to the small Inkosi regarding opening it. I think you will enjoy it! Ironically I have a similar configuration (glass blast small insigno, but it’s a 21), it’s a great combination!

Both of my small 21’s that I am giving my sons are the PJ Insingo variant. That is my favorite edc configuration.

I am so glad to hear that the Small 31 feels just like the Inkosi. That’s what I want

Having handled both old (20+ years, well used) and new sand blasted CRKs, I think I’d prefer the smoother glass blast.

My 31 feels great, but it’s still breaking in. Every time I think it’s good, I grab my older ones and shake my head. It is amazing how smooth these things get over time.

Anyway, I wouldn’t let the texture or model stop me. It’s all great.

I am definitely excited to get this one and try it out. I only stopped carrying my small 21 insingo to put away for my kids. Picked up a second one also. Sending them both to the mother ship for a refresh and going to give them to my sons at some point.

The wait it killing me. It was supposed to be here today, but is delayed with USPS. Aghhhhhh!!!!!

Oh baby it arrived!!!

First off… I will say that the glass blast finish feels exactly like a worn down sandblast finish. I grabbed my small 21 that has seen a lot of use and pocket time. They feel almost exactly the same. I like the glass blast, but definitely prefer the sandblast. If I could have found this configuration with sandblast, I would have bought that instead.
With that being said…..I still love this one!!

This had been the sharpest new CRK I have ever received. It’s kind of unreal.

As far as the lockup goes…. It’s smooth, but not like the inkosi smooth. Only slightly smoother than my small 21. Very hard to tell.

So glad this is finally here and I can get these other 21’s off to the mother ship to store away for my sons.

I have noticed that it does have some lock rock/blade play. None side to side. But definitely there…. It doesn’t affect cutting or use. But I could see how it would drive people mad…… especially since my 21’s and inkosi’s dont don’t do this.

I still love it though. Wish I could have found a standard sandblast version. The bead blast is definitely very slick and slippery

I ended up parting with the knife above for a few reasons. The glass blast wasn’t my favorite and the pocket clip kept sliding into the lockbar area any time I grabbed the knife to make a cut.

But….. here we are a few months later and I snagged a new Small 31 PJ drop point in the sand blast finish. I’m hoping that that the different finish will help with the pocket clip issue. If not, I am going to grab an MIM clip.

I really love the smalls. They seem to do everything the large will do but in a smaller package.

Very excited to get this one.

I ordered an MIM clip last night just to have. I am really excited about this in the sandblast finish.
I never really cared for the glass blast. I like the rough texture of the sandblast. And the character it gets overtime with wear.

Hopefully the sliding clip issue is eliminated with the MIM clip addition.

I would recommend with 100% certainty to stick with the 21 models or earlier. For many reasons they are so much better than the 31s and you can still get them at a very reasonable price.

I like the glass blasting. Looks amazing on the large Inkosi and Zaan. It’s definitely smoother though so you may want to stay away from it if you’re looking for grip texture.

Oh yes!!!! Man I missed the sandblast finish. I much prefer it over the glass blast…

Also, so far, the pocket clip does not slide over. I feel like I could force it. But it seems as though the sandblast finish is helping hold it in place more u see my grip.

I just got a small 31 insingo in today. Something I've been waiting for a long time. I had a 21 insingo years ago and sold it when I needed the money. I decided to finally replace that knife with a 31. I will say the stock clip felt like it had a lot of movement. I could feel it shifting whenever I opened the knife (I have a tendency to use the clip for leverage), so I put my MIM clip on the small 31 and have to say it feels much more solid that way.

As an aside, the action was pretty tight right out of the box, but I took the knife apart to remove the lanyard/pin and when I put it back together, it was smooth as could be with no play. Very happy to have a small insingo again!!

I had a similar situation. I love the 21 and the 31. The MIM pocket clip really makes all the difference with the movement issue. It’s nice and solid with it installed.
