I have a small regular sebenza, that I purchased several years ago, and only recently have I begun to carry it on a semi-regular basis. Anyway its blade is slightly off center when closed and its really quite close to rubbing the non locking scale. Its my understanding that they way these knives are manufactured and fitted that this should be next to impossible. I can also move the blade towards center by applying light pressure on the spine to counter the tension of the lockbar. All screws are tight and I have tried adjusting the scale some to correct this to no avail.

To you experts, would you suspect this is a washer issue or something more serious like a misfit bushing...functionally its fine, but would you send it off to the spa to see what they have to say before all the parts are gone for these aging beauties?

Off center blades with a Sebenza are almost always the result of an assembly glitch. Have you tried reassembling the knife?

I just sent a small Regular Sebenza back to CRK for an off-center blade. Mine was only slightly off--from your pic it looks quite a bit off to me. When it came back it was perfectly centered. That being said, a centered blade is not always 100% possible--they gave me the disclaimer that they would "do their best" to get it as perfect as possible.

Bottom line--send it in sir.

Usually its a pinched washer or another assembly error. If you have assembled it correctly and you "feel" your assembly is correct and that is Not the issue, send it in and they will be glad to assist you with the issue. CRK has the Best Customer Service in the industry.

Sometimes the bushing gets caught and it is offset to either side. Try disassembling it and putting it together again. The way that works better for me is with the blade at a 90 to 45 degree angle with the frame with the lock bar disengaged. Make sure all frame screws are tight before inserting the pivot. You can press with your fingers and, as nyefmaker says, you will be able to feel whether it is properly put together or not. Put it against a window or light and make sure there is no light between the washers and frame on either side and that the action is smooth.

An off-center Sebenza is sacrilege :)

Looks like I'll be sending it off in the near future. Tried everything I could think of and once everythig is snugged up the blade ends up in the same position, so I highly doubt it's user or assembly error. There has to be a mechanical flaw somewhere on this one.

Over the years I have had a few knives from good companies that had warped blades. That seems very unlikely, but I suppose it's possible.

Why after 2 years do you care now? Why not carry it for 5 years and have it adjusted when you send it in for refinishing?

Because I can! Not to mention it's a Regular model, not the fugly classic or 21 style. They don't happen to make them anymore and it's been noted from CRK that replacement parts for these models of knives are running low, especially blades. It has a handle code of B07 and I either purchased it in the fall of 07 or early spring of 08 so it's been in my hands for quite some time.
