Hi,
I finally put a deposit for a small sebenza with micarta inlay.
I really really like the 2006 amboyna wood inlay on the small sebenza....Oh well...my budget is not in that range.

Question :
What did I miss besides the pretty wood inlay with my micarta handle choice ?

My heart and right hand says wood but I know I might need to use it beyond dry chores e.g. boxes, tapes, letters and that it may involved rinsing it in water e.g. food preparation, etc.

Thanks for your patience with my newbie questions.
My local knife shop owner thanks you, too :)

I'm loving the micarta inlay knives right now. You will find many of us old-timers that have a choice of Sebenzas to carry from our collections are using the MIS as an EDC. It really says a lot about the company when they come up with a simple innovation that so many loyal customers take to.

I've carried and used a large LE for a while and my experience is that the LE's hold up the best under daily relatively light use. I strop them every once and a while and they stay blistering sharp. I'd say go for the LE unless you plan on soaking the knife in warm water all night. Rinsing the LE a few times a day should pose no problem. I like mine and I also like the Micarta, heck get both.:p

I used my large Seb with micarta inlay while replumbing a trough for our cattle last week.

Freezing cold water, gunk from the trough, and mud everywhere from the cattle breaking the pipe that runs up to the trough.

Wood is slippery. Micarta is grippy. Simple choice if you’re going to use it hard.

I love my Box Elder and ironwood Mnandis, but I wouldn’t take wood out into the field.

I use my box elder sebbi. I have only really started carrying it since I got a pouch but I haven't had any grip trouble. The wood is stablised so there shouldn't be any trouble with food prep

First, you can't go wrong with any Sebbie.

Second, you've already been bitten, which is evident by you pulling the trigger on one.

Third, it's only a matter of time. . . .you'll pull the trigger on the one you didn't get this time.

:D

I don't have a Micarta inlay Sebbie. . . .cuz my woody would get extremely jealous.
