Hey everyone, I'm looking into getting a new knife soon and think I want to get a nice flipper. This will be a EDC and get used daily. I have a large micarta Sebenza which is awesome but sometimes I wish CRK made a flipper. I was originally going to get a small micarta insingo but then started thinking, I haven't really given any other semi/ custom knife makers a chance. Ive had a 3.5" xm-18 which was also a amazing blade but got rid of it because it was just a bit too bulky for my main EDC. I was thinking about getting a 3" instead but I've read that the flipper isn't that great in that size. So I'm not 100% sold on that yet. Ive watched Jim Skelton's Marfione mini matrix review and drooled the entire time haha. But thats out of my budget :(. So what do you guys think would be the small sebenza of flippers?

Wish List:
s30v or similar steel
Around 3" blade
Framelock
Sleek design
preferably titanium handles

Thanks everyone!:D

Curtiss F3 compact. Small, crazy fast flipper, that Dave can customize the hell out of.

Rod Olson Quick Flick. Only place I've found it is at Knifeart.com. In terms of fit and finish, I'd definitely put it up against my Small Sebenzas. But it uses a button lock instead of a framelock. Not sure how you feel about that.

So many in the 3.5 inch range... can't really think of any in the 3 inch range...

As far as production knives go...

Spyderco Domino
Spyderco Southard
Zero Tolerance 0801
Kershaw Groove

The Rod Olson Quick Flick is also my choice and actually most carried EDC. A 3" blade of RWL-34, button lock and one of the best flipper actions. BladeHQ also carries them now with different inlays.

Seconded. Curtiss flippers are the bomb. I've had my eye on one for months but I just don't have the cash.

Completely agree Curtiss compact is a tremendous value and meets. Your criteria.

While the Curtiss F3 Compact is an excellent flipper, know that it's only a 2.3" blade that's 0.16" thick.

If you can find one, a Ray Laconico flipper.

I second this. The small jasmine is my most carried knife. It's sized perfectly, just like a "medium" sebenza would be.

Laconico, if you can find one anyway. Not just a Jasmine/small Jasmine, but also the Slim EDC I think it is called.

Oh that's really cool. I didn't know that. I'll bet a lot of the success of that knife has to do with the fact that several people have been talking it up here on BF. It's a fabulous little knife!

It's called the Slim EDC, all right. Here's mine:

The problem is, Ray doesn't make the Slim EDC knife anymore. So you'll have to look for it on the secondary market. And secondary market pricing for Ray's knives has gone through the roof. I'm sure glad I got mine when I did. :)

F3 compact. It's little but usable and a great flipper. I have XL hands (3 finger grip) and it is about as small as I can comfortably go and not have any problems manipulating it. It is much smaller than a small Seb.
Try someone like Chuck Gedraitis. I don't have anything from him but his work looks awesome and books are open I think.

I was introduced to the fabulous Olson Quick Flick by you!

Hey everyone thanks for all the advice. I just ordered a Curtiss 3.5" F3 wharncliffe :). I didn't plan of getting a big knife but I got lucky and found a good deal on a new one. I can't wait! Thanks again guys!
