Small Sebenza Redundant?

I have a Mnandi, Small Classic Sebenza and Large Classic Sebenza. (I had an Umfaan, but sold it).

Over the past month, it is seeming to me that when I chose which to put in my pocket as I head out the door, I either take the Mnandi or the Large Classic. The Small Classic is now moldering in my knife case, lonely from a lack of carry or use.

Anyone else feel the same way since the introduction of the Mnandi?

Small Classic still gets the most carry time on the weekends, the Mnandi gets the call for evenings out. Now if I had less chores and a more active social life things might be different...;)

All I've ever owned have been the large Sebbies. At one time I thought them to on the small side but have since grown to really like the size of them. I've never been too inclined to pick up a small sebbie, and probably even less an Umfaan or Mnandi. But with so much positive feedback on these things might have to change on my next CRK!:D All this good word from so many good folks can't be wrong!:D  :)

...other than the occasional PPK. To me, a large Seb. is less practical since I'm dressed in business casual most of the time, and if I'm out-of-doors on the weekends, I'd rather carry a small fixed-blade in addition to my small (and occasional PPK :)).

The Mnandi, while nice as she can be, just didn't instill the same confidence in me in terms of ruggedness as the small Seb. Harder to open for me too for some reason. To each their own, though!

The small Sebbie is as close to perfect as I've come across, so far. The Umfaan feels great in my hand for such a small knife. I've never handled a large Sebbie or Mnandi. I might buy a large someday, but the Mnandi just doesen't cry out to me for some reason. Next on my list is a small classic.

My small classic get carried daily to work. I reach for my large classic on the weekends.

Although I have a small and a large wood inlay, I find that I am constantly carrying a small sebenza. I have handled all the other folders (other then the sebenza) and find for me, the small sebenza does it for me in most circumstances. The large is for larger tasks which I don't find necessary on a daily basis.

Just curious, for those that have replied, whether you have found the Mnandi to not be stout enough? Or, is it that the opening of the Mnandi is not as quick and easy as the Small Sebenza? (it isn't).

I find that in my office workplace, the Mnandi is a little bit of a compromise on opening speed, but this is not important in my workplace.

Evenings and weekends, I mostly carry a knife because I like carrying one, and for the remote possibility that I might actually NEED one. I find the Large Sebenza stands up better in the pocket (clipless for me) in a leather slip sheath.

For me, the only drawback to the large Sebenza is the looks it draws due to its size while I am in the office. I carry a knife in a belt sheath (usually do business casual dress) since I tend to get myself into unusual positions (good examples are having my head under an instrument panel while my feet rest on the seat so I can examine a module or under my desk connecting equipment to my workstation), so size of the carry knife is not an issue for me -- but it is for others. The small Sebenza does not seem to get people excited whereas the large Sebenza causes people to pay too much attention to my work. I never make a big deal of opening and/or using a knife, but the large Sebenza seems to draw eyes. I often use a knife during the course of my work day, and the small Sebenza seems to be invisible.

While I rather carry a large Sebenza (and I am going to try once again, only this time with a decorated one in the hopes that the decoration might mollify people), the small Sebenza seems to be under the radar and is big enough to get the job done. A much smaller knife would not be enough knife for my jobs. So I do not think the small Sebenza is redundant; for me, it fills an important niche.

I enjoy both large and small Sebenza but ideal for me would be size in between them. I don't have mnndi but probably I would feel it is too small, between small Seb and Umfaan.
Perhaps Mnandi or new model for inbetween size, bigger than small Seb and smaller than big Seb!:D
