I've just joined so hello everyone, from the UK. Perhaps someone could shed a little light on this small Sebenza. I acquired it without papers and while I believe it to be an old one I'd appreciate a bit more information about it's likely date of manufacture and blade steel if anyone can help please? I have taken it apart and there is a small number 2 freehand engraved near the blade pivot hole, but there are no markings or numbers on the scales. Thankyou.

I'm far (OK...maybe very very far) from being an expert, but here's a couple of observations:
- The matte screws would lead me to think it is a BG-42 one;
- Would you have the clip handy, by any chance? A "wavy" clip is newer, a "straight" clip is older...

That's about the extent of my Sebbie's lore :o

If you look at the pivot end of the handles it doesn't have Classic MM . So it would more than likely be ATS34 and made before the regular Sebenza was released. Larry

There should be dates inside the slabs by the tail end. For example A98. If it does not have these, I would say its a ATS34 model and definately a keeper. You dont see many of those around. You can get a clip from Chris Reeves for not alot.

Congratulations on becoming a member !!!

I just checked, a new titanium clip and stainless screw is $15 from Chris Reeve. I am sure you can ask them for a blasted over screw so it matches the others. Ask for an allen wrench as well. Give them a call, Heather will take care of you, she is a sweetheart !

Yup, looks like a pre '96 model with a ATS-34 blade (assuming it's not a replacement blade). Nice score! :thumbup:

I would say it is definately a ATS 34 version and truely a keeper. I have only seen a few for sale and they go for quite a bit. If you email Chris Reeve, they can shed more light on it for you.

I have a time line file with year introduced and year discontinued for all chris reeve knives that Anne sent me awhile back. Its an excel file, so when I try to copy it here, it gets all screwed up. It shows a Small Original Sebenza manufacturing dates of 1993-1996. I will try and get it up tonight !
