I am looking for a smaller size shop vac to save some space in my shop. I have an older 5 gal Craftsman and it is very loud and takes up too much room in my small shop. I am thinking about one in a 1-1/2 to 2 gallon size. Does any one have any recomendations on brand? I think it is the Shop Vac brand that makes a series that is supposed to be quieter, any experience with them?

Thoughts, opinions and recomendations welcome.

TIA

I have a couple of the newer Shop Vacs, and they are quiter, but that is a relative term. You aren't going to be listening to the radio standing next to one while it's running. You might look into the Hang Up model. It has a wall mount bracket and a long hose (about 25 feet of hose) so you can mount it up out of the way and reach a large area. It also gets you away from the noisy part. ;)

Yup, mount it in another room or build a sound proof box around it if you want quiet.

I have a small Home Depot model that is ~2 gallons. It uses a smaller hose so, it really doesn't have the power of a full size hose shop vac. Its motor is smaller and the wind noise is less so it is less noisy but that is also due to lower "suck volume" picking up debris. It sure is handy for cleaning the car mats and seats though.
