Anyone know of a company that makes a high quality utility oriented blade that's got a blade length of 4" overall of about 9" and the blade 5/16ths or 3/8ths thick? Nothing like HI but closer to ranger/strider/busse and the like.

If you're after thickness for strength, might as well go for INFI too. I'd save up for a Busse.

However, you don't want the blade too thick otherwise it'll cut like crap.

Why do you want such a thick, short knife? Do you want to use as a pry bar?

Thanks,
Rich

Some of the Busse knives are more than 1/4" thick. It wouldn't hurt to give Busse a call and see if they will make what you want. They have a custom shop.

I would check out Busse
they just made a custom active duty that was .420 thick
If thats thick enough for you :D

Entrek USA has a few models, check out the Javalina, Jag and survivor. You can usually pick one up for under $100 if you shop around.

How bout a scrapyard street scrapper? Or if you dont mind 5 inches, The dumpster mutt is a steal at $70.

For $150., Leu can make you a custom utility knife that will cut like a Banshee. I speak from experience. Check out his web-site: Leu Custom Knives.

for that price the blade is only gonna be 1/8" thick. :D 5/16"-3/8" thick is gonna cost a little more than double.

Bark River Bravo-1. Thick, tough, added benefit of cutting like a laser. Unmatched customer service. Heard enough?;):D

Sorry for the price slip-up Mr. Leu. I'd still go with a Leu Custom, even at that price.

If ya want a short sharpened pry bar , look at the wilson combat cop tool . Price in the 80 buck range , good kydex sheath .

Chris

I'll second Ranger Knives. Justin can hook you up with a short but super thick blade out of quality steel (1095, 5160, S7, whatever) for an amazingly reasonable price. He's a helluva nice guy to deal with too.

The Becker Crewman and Companion are stout, quality blades as well. Here's my crewman:
