Like the title says, who makes a small tough 3" or under blade folding knife that you can work on without voiding the warranty? I know Chris Reeve is one. What are the others?

Emerson micro-Comms and mini-CQC 7s fit your size specs. The micro-Commanders are disco'd but still available in some places. Strider also comes to mind, although I haven't owned one for a while and I'm not 100% sure they encourage disassembly. I seem to remember that they're OK with it though.

I've seen a couple of other brands that don't seem to mind user disassembly, but I can't recall who they are ATM.

The ZT 0900 blade is under 3''. If you can go 3 1/4 or 3 1/2'' you choices would increase quite a bit.

Got it!

Emerson. The Kershaw Emersons would probably be a good choice too. They have a few under 3". Kershaw has some other options under 3" and I've never heard of them denouncing disassembly.

Ok, let's say maximum blade length of 3 1/2" and can disassemble without voiding warranty. But would prefer a shorter blade.

Hinderer XM-18 in the 3" and 3.5" flavor. Since they offer different types of scales and hardware, they pretty much have to be ok with disassembly.

Take a look at the ZT line. There are a ton of choices with blades 3 1/2'' or less. You can take ZTs apart without voiding the warranty. How much are you looking to spend?

Can't go wrong with a Benchmade mini Griptilian or mini Barrage.

You can when the OP specifically says he wants to disassemble the knife. Axis locks are tricky for many people, and BM does not like to re-assemble a baggie of knife parts.

Kershaw/ZT, Emerson, CRK, are all fine. The Ontario RAT folder would probably be a good fit too if you're on a budget. I can't speak for their warranty but the knives are very simply build.

Probably no more than 300 dollars.
