How many times have you arrived at a business at opening time, stood at the doors and waited until five minutes past opening while employees milled around inside looking at you?
I visited my mother this past weekend, near the small town of Tallassee, Alabama. I went to the CVS pharmacy in Tallassee on Labor Day morning to pick up some medication for her. Arrived about 9:30, and the sign on the door
read, "Labor Day Hours: 10 AM - 6 PM." So I returned to my car in the parking lot and had just settled down in the heat and humidity when someone tapped on my car window. A young lady in a CVS uniform was standing there.
"The pharmacist will be here at 10" she said, "but I have unlocked and wondered if you wanted to come on in where it is cool?" As I thanked her and started for the door, she was making the rounds of the other three people sitting waiting in cars.
I hope she ends up owning the place.
