I'm looking for a small traditional fixed blade. Not sure why, but I want one. I have three picked out - all fairly inexpensive.

Boker Arbolito Bird and Trout - stag, 440A (<$25)
Case Finn3 - stacked leather, True Sharp?, used (<$35)
Western Bird and Trout - stacked leather, 440HC (<$30) - looks cheap though

I know these are not up to some members standards, but they are inexpensive and functional. I am leaning towards the Boker, though 440A, it has the classic European look.

I'd go with the Case. Those Case Finn series are about as traditonal as you can get. That pattern of knife with the 3 inch blade and stacked leather washer handle was made by Case, Western, Kaybar, and one or two German companies.

In the 1940's and 50's, it seemed like there was no other kind of sheath knife worn by outdoorsmen.

Böker Arbolito seem underated to me. Many turn up their noses and sniff 'Argentina' So what? They strike me as nice, different fixed blades, well enough finished for the money and have very good quality sheathes too. Some good stag to be had there as well.

As Jackknife said, those Case Finn types are classic, classic, classic. Oh, and really useful little blades. Might have been why all those outdoorsmen carrien them. ;)

As far as the Arbolito Bokers, I don't have the B&T, but I have the 519HH in stag and it's a very nice knife with a good sheath.

I also had a 520HH that was overall nice, but the steel of the tang was just a tiny bit proud from the scales and needed a little edge smoothing. I sold that one to a compadre at work. So now we have similar knives to go with our similar polished stainless Vaqueros. Mine is the New Vaquero and his is the old. I gave him a really good deal on the knife and some Ruger simulated stag grips for his. The knife and gun should look good on a good gun rig.

Oh yeah, if you can find one, Boker made a stacked leather little knife that was much like the Finn series. I had one I'd gotten at a yard sale for .25 Cents. I'm still kicking myself for ever selling it later.

Good luck and let us see what you end up with.
