Ok guys need guidance in here,

I'm looking for a small knife (under 4 1/2" overall), something of the sort of a money clip or something like the spyderco firebyrd.

The main use would be for opening package and wire stripping and small utilitarian task around the office. I would like something small, that will not attract attention. The thing is, that i need to run trought a metal detector every day, and any blade over 2.2inch will not pass security check.

Any of you guys carry anything of the sort, any hints and tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Presently i'm looking at those candidates.

Spyderco Firebyrd (The Firebyrd is a lighter shell with small blade in it and a bottle opener.)

I'd go for the Wharcom, or any of the Subcom family, really. Depending on how your parcels come packed, I might even suggest the Rescom, and as for cutting things like packets, a point isn't really that necessary if you can get the material inside the "hook".

Plus, the Rescom looks far less threatening than something with a point, which might be a plus for your security guys.

I really liked my Gerber Edge when I had it a few years back. Its only AUS6 but it held a good edge, was extremely lightweight and functioned ecellent as a money clip.

I have also used my mini-paraframe as a money clip, but that knife is kinda junky (though IMHO better than the larger paraframes!).

I have a SOG Blink, it looks like a money clip and has a nice lock with a safety. Nice little knife , but it's assisted opening ...

I also have a CRKT Rollock and a Kershaw Scallion , both can be used as money clips.

I would go for the Wharcom, it's a really great little knife.

The Spyderco Cricket is another good option, the blade shape might seem odd at first, but it's really handy.

If one hand opening isn't a must, consider a Wenger Money Clip, really slim SAK with a blade, scissors and nailfile (and money clip, of course). It's bigger than the Victorinox Classic (which I find too small).

I have been using the Spyderco Carbon Fiber Cricket w/ATS-55 steel as a EDC $$$clip for just over a year now and I can't leave the house without it. I use the the tip of the knife every day to trace sections on Blue Prints to use on the job. My counterparts are for ever asking to use it. Give it a look....

The Cricket does makes a great moneyclip. I have a SS but would love to find a CF Cricket. If the pharmacy, gp, or kniveworks did not have it, where should I look?

It is long discontinued so you will have to look for a private seller on ebay or here on Bladeforums...

Until you find one just buy a Subcom...it is inexpensive and works well. Besides these other guys don't provide snappy photos like I do so listen to me.:D

Well got to admit that the snappy picture did the effect. Pretty neat !
Already looking around to buy one :D

Seem to be a really nice fit for money clip.
And i really want to get something that not heavy sitting in my pocket and in any case the blade is way heavier than all my notes....

Oh zenheretic, BTW nice location :)

Victorinox makes a nice little moneyclip, in polished or red andonized. Very nice, I have a red one.

Everything suggested so far will work of course. The subcom is great for pimping out though. Not to mention, playing with it is addictive. Also worth mentioning it is a useful little design that handles bigger than its size.

Gerber sells this nice little money clip knife. it's all black. almost looks like a CRKT stiff kiss. they sell them at every walmart.

I received the Subcom Wharncom for christmas and it is fantastic - perfect for a money clip utility knife. If you are leaning that way, go for it.

The Spin is a GREAT little knife. It is a stainless steel framelock, with a wicked sharp little blade.
