lost my old spyderco that had been my edc for several years. looked around for a replacement that would be an upgrade but at a price that would not get
my shorts in a knot if i lost it. so i ordered a buck vantage pro s30v short blade (short so as to not upset my fellow workers).

anyway, what do you think of my choice? i also considered a benchmade
but that one was more expensive and with d2 steel.

I don't know. I bought one for myself, but found it just too small for my hand. I gave it to a friends 12 year old daughter so she would have a small version of her Dad's and she loves it. It just seems too small for the design in my opinion.

I've had one for awhile and like Plumberdv it's a bit on the small side for my hand, the full size that I sold to a coworker was just about perfect. That being said for it's size it's a whole lot of knife for the money. I often drop mine in the watch pocket on my jeans for those little jobs like opening envelopes, etc. Just don't forget it's there come wash day.

I should have qualified my statement a little more. I love the full size Vantage knives and if the little guy fits your needs, you would be hard pressed to find a better value. It all depends on how small or large the knife needs to be to fit your needs and your hands.

You can't go wrong with a Vantage, that being said the blade on the large size is only a fraction of an inch longer than a 301 slip-joint.If it was me I'd get the knife I liked best and let my co-workers work out their mental problems on their own.

I just bought a large Vantage Pro and really like it. I got it from the Buck Factory Store and also looked at the smaller Vantages that were there. IMO you made a good choice going with the larger Vantage. The smaller model feels really small and the full size Vantage carries and feels like a medium size knife. The clip also allows a very low profile and it carries well clipped into the front pocket of my jeans.
