Tried this over in the general forum (Bo showed me a real nice piece by Gordon Bishop). With your permission,

I’ll try again here.

I’ve been thinking lately about getting a small (<2.5") Wharncliff gent's folder for office carry. Something lightweight and classy.

Frank Dilluvio's ultra-thin" might be what I'm looking for. Or maybe I should ask Tom Anderson if he’d be interested in building a smaller version of his Thrush? Perhaps the world is ready for a DDR slotted carbon fiber gent’s knife in S90V?

How about some other suggestions? (Maybe a knifemaker who has available knives, since I’m a big fan of instant gratification.)

Thanks in advance for all your great ideas (and pictures?).

Hi Dave, last week I recieved my Frank Dilluvio wharncliff folder.(not the thin gents) The D-2 blade is 3"with 2 3/4 sharpened. I just think Frank's wharncliffs are great, and he is a gentleman to deal with. I had a little problem with the lock and he said ship it right back and he would adjust it. I'm paitently waiting for it to return, as it will be one of my favorite carries.

Check out Bailey Bradshaw's semi-custom Whitewings. I have a MOP mini-trapper with a nice Wharncliffe that is 3" X 5/16ths" closed, weighs nil, and is all CPM3V. Here's a link (but no Wharncliffe pix, just a droppoint example) and Chris will treat you right.

Gene Osborn (CenterCross) makes some nice knives. My CenterCross 2.75" Wharncliff is a scale release auto and voted "most likely to be carried" by it's owner 2 years straight.
He recently had some knives for sale including several wharncliffs. Great guy to deal with too.

I just got done showing this knife off at the ECCKS, and everyone was impressed with it how smooth this knife is. Rick Dunkerly suggested that Art add this knife as one of his standard models.

Great suggestions! Keep 'em coming!

flava -- interesting; too bad there isn't a better picture.

sixgun -- appreciate the emails. Thanks.

mikespens -- I love the look of the Whitewing Warlock, and the CPM 3V makes it even better. I've come real close to buying one, but right now I think I want to find something a bit smaller.

Bugs3X -- I checked out Thomas Haslinger's website when he posted the two small gentlemen's folders for sale. Nice stuff, but no Wharncliff.

JW -- I'll have to check out Gene Osborne's website. No auto's for me though; can't carry them here in Virginia.

PhilL -- I really enjoy looking at Art Washburn's creations. Probably way too nice for someone like me;; it'd be a real shame to put a scratch on one of his knives.

Art Washburn makes some terrific gent's folders with Devin Thomas damascus blades. There are a lot of nice pictures at his website here: http://adw.go-gbs.com/

I have been dreaming about a nice little folder in Fireball stainless damascus but I really need to spend more money on food and clothes...

For a superb carry wharncliffe (read: no damascus and under $400) check out Joel Chamblin's Wharncliff folder at www.chamblinknives.com Great knife from a great maker at a great price. Blade is only 2 3/4 inches, which makes for a good carry size.
