I like always having something on the smaller side with me, I usually have my Uncle Henry Jr or douk-douk.

What other knives on the smaller side would you recommend? prefer non locking.

Thats a very long list of traditional knives. Take a look at Case, Great Eastern Cutlery, Queen, Victorinox, Wenger, Rough Rider makes cheap users that are of decent quality which can be had for $5-10.

Head on over to the traditional forum, it looks like you fit in and the guys there specialize in these old school slipjoints.

I recently got a Case Sodbusters Jr, I was impressed with what a solid little knife it is for a reasonable price.

I like my Alox Electrician's knife. Classy, good looking, good steel, and not even slightly tacticool looking.

I do also have a Tiny Texas Toothpick, which I can't quite bring myself to carry seriously. All I can say is that it looked bigger on the screen, you know?

Like the other guys said, traditional knives seem to fit the bill here, and I have several. Recently acquired a Hen and Rooster whittler patter in deer antler that I like. The Rough Rider gunstock Congress is also quite decent. I don't carry either one because I haven't yet put an edge on them that I consider adequate.

i would suggest a Friction Folder.
the variety is amazing: sizes, materials, styles.

you can even get some less expensive knives by some famous makers: Begg, Fellhoelter, Ohta, ...

also, there are some fantastic makers here on BF that make their own versions: Daniel Fairly, JK Knives, Ivan Campos just to name 3.

I am always partial to the Kershaw Chive and Scallion for my smaller carry!

I like the case sod jr. for a single blade. GEC knives makes some very tempting blades, however. for 25 buck these are tough and get very sharp easily. I only have photos of mine with a kershaw skyline, great knife for an affordable one hander..
