I own or have owned most of the plastic/rubber handled, as well a #1 and #2 wood handle Moras. The #2 has always seemed the most comfortable to me, but the 510 is a very close second, and with it's smaller blade, I like it better overall. A couple of days ago I decided to buy a CS Hawk, so I put in an order at SMKW. I added a wood handled mora with half guard and a #106 to the order, just to see if there was anything I liked about them.
Got them Yesterday, and took them out of the box. I assumed the half guard Mora was a #1, but it was actually a #2. I thought I might like the guard, but I wasn't real impressed with the way it feels. It's more of a nuisance than anything.
On to the #106. I was surprised to find that it has a #2 sized handle. I had assumed it was #1 sized. I've been using it for everything, and am very impressed with this knife. It feels great in my hand because of the large handle. Even more than the handle, I dig the blade. It's a great shape and length in my opinion. It makes my other Moras feel large and clunky.
Anyone else like these smaller bladed Moras? I'm gonna pick up a #906 as it seems to have the same blade in a synthetic handle, and I'd like to try it out. Anyone have a #906 that would like to comment on the comfort of the handle?
