Is there a knife very similar to the Queen Mt Man lockback ( prefer D2 or 1095 ) but in a smaller version ? Perhaps a 3" or just under 3" ?

I love this Mt. Man and would like a smaller version as well.

Can't help you on your search but I love the lanyard hole on a traditional looking folder. It's one of my quirks, I always buy "standard isssue" things so I require some ability to customise.

I might be way off, but didn't Remington make a smaller single blade bullet knife? I will look around. I am off work today hangin out with the baby.

I am not sure of the length. 1984 bullet knife.

nope it is big too.

The closest you will get, while staying faithful to the pattern, is probably going to be the Camillus made Remington 1173L "Baby Bullet" at 3.5" closed.

thanks.. this gives me a new quest :)

if nothing else I know once I finally get a working slipjoint completed , that i will attempt to make a lockback in the size I am looking for

I too would like a scaled down version of a Mountain Man (Mountain Lad?)

Weidmannsheil and Fox&Hound offer smaller European lockbacks in horn or antler but can't think of an American version.

Maybe a Forum Knife for 2008???

In my search for traditional lockbacks with bone or stag handle material I came across these. Not exactly what I wanted but close, could be what your looking for. They have a large and a small version.

My favorites are the Case Copperlock and Mini Copperlock, you may like the Mini.

I agree the Mt Man is a great looking knife reminds me of the one Anthony Hopkins used in the movie The Edge. The Moore Maker Locking Single Trapper resembles the Mt Man as well but its a big guy too.

A G Russell made a knife called the Farmer's or something like that, with a 154 cm blade. I think it's no longer made. This may be the thing.

Well it's no lockback but Scagel just came out with a one blade folder that's 3 3/4" made in 1095 Carbon Steel...A bit similar to the Mountain Man.

Does it have to be a lockback? The reason I ask is because Queen has their models #41 and the #41L. the 41 is a regular single blade slipjoint 3-3/4" closed with d2 steel and available in a variety of handle materials. the 41L is the same but has a liner lock.

John, not quite a Mt Man or Bullet, but these lockbacks from Moki in Japan are REAL nice. They come in 3 sizes & this crimson jig bone & a stag bone. This is the bigger 4" size.VG-10 blades,a Jess Horn style.I was impressed, great fit & finish, solid lockup.Sharp out of the box that is printed "hand made"

Vince , reading your posts is very damaging to my knife making funds....

I love the overall look of that knife , really flows from tip to tail....

off to check those out as well ! thanks !

John,I had looked at these for a while & drooled, with the smaller stag bone models more appealing. But on another forum this appeared for sale,it was a good opportunity to check it out and save a few $'s.Now how consistent they are ,I don't know, but if I could get the small one in stag bone made like this, with fit & lockup like this one, man, these are really nice. The large one here comes with a very unique belt pouch,a canvas on the outside ,leather lined interior with a fla/snap & belt loop

will have to see how my wallet weathers the time I spend at the Knife Show tomorrow here in Vegas...if it makes it thru the day unscathed , I know which one I am ordering first :)

you guys really know your stuff on these lockbacks/slippies.... major thanks !
