Smaller Scale C-60 Ayoob or?

Any of you who have known me for a while know that I'm truly fanatical about the Massad Ayoob C-60 model and it's been in my top 10 Spyderco favorites list for quite a few years now. I was talking to a good friend of mine who I sold one of my Sprint model G-10 version Ayoob models to him a couple of years ago. He told me that he uses it primarily for his deer hunting folder>> but he said to me that he would have one for a main daily EDC if it were available in a smaller scale, with a smaller blade. He said and I tend to agree that an Ayoob model with about a 3 inch blade, G-10 handle and lanyard hole would be a super idea and would make an excellent EDC folder.

Hey it isn't like Spyderco hasn't done this before because the ROOKIE model is basically a scaled down version of the classic POLICE model which is a Spyderco icon. Not to mention the two Terzuola models, The Centofante C-50 & C-25, The big and small Wegner models. And you could even look at all the different size ranges of the Calypso models.

Maybe the C-60 Ayoob isn't your cup of tea so to speak and maybe there are other models you would like to see in a smaller scale, sized down version to accomodate draconian blade laws in different areas of the country. But I do think that a smaller, scaled down version of the C-60 Ayoob would be an EDC dream come true for a lot of Spyder lovers. But I would also like to hear what other models you all would like to see a scaled down version of?

I would love to try out a scaled down Ayoob.

Maybe also a scaled down Tuff! :)

A smaller Ulize...?

Hey I never thought about a smaller scale TUFF model>> that's a great suggestion and I would love to see that happen. There really already is a small version of the ULIZE>> well sort of anyway. Because the Spyderco ADVENTURA model that Brother Dialex designed really is like a small ULIZE model the more I think about it.

But a smaller scale TUFF model >> that would be very interesting.

When you think about it some of the small models of bigger Spyders have truly been more successful. I had far more people ask me about the smaller Wegner Jr. more than I have about the C-48 big Wegner model. I know that the C-25 Centofante model outsold the larger C-50 version did.

The ROOKIE which basically a smaller version of the iconic Police model is probably the most perfect sized EDC knife I've ever seen out of the Spyderco line up. The Caly JR. out of the Calypso series is not only wanted for collectors but it was a lot of people's favorite EDC model for quite a while and that Burgundy, ZDP-189 Caly Jr. was Spyderco's first folder in ZDP-189.

In the fixed blade category the STREETBEAT was bascially a smaller, scaled down version of the original PERRIN model. So to me it just makes perfect sense for a smaller version of the C-60 Ayoob>> which the original model was truly one of Spyderco's most ergonomic models ever made.

Lil' Ayoob? Hell yes! Where is Mark Greenman?

Yeah!! I've kind of wondered that myself>> but Mark isn't the only AYOOB fanatic as I'm well locked into that club my own self.

I haven't even seen him over at the Spyderco.com forum either in quite a while now. But he used to chime in just about everytime the Ayoob was even briefly mentioned.

If I remember correctly I believe that Dr. Hannibal Lecter M.D. was also an Ayoob enthusiast as well.

But when you think about it the C-60 in a smaller size would make an excellent EDC folder. Because in a few cases I don't carry the Ayoob because of the blade length but one with a 3 to 3 1/4 inch blade would be perfect>> it would be in the same league as the Rookie model.
