Looking to purchase a Bark River knife for my 15 year old son. We have been using my ESEE 6, IZULA 2 and Fallkniven F1 for the last 5 years now and I would like to buy him another knife. He has a Cold Steel Master Hunter but I want something smaller for him.

I'm looking for tiny and cheap, preferably a thin blade as well, thinner than the IZULA.

Bark River has always interested me. Not looking to break the bank though but if the knife is right then it doesn't matter too much.

So thin, small and reasonably priced if possible. What is their smallest knife available?

Thanks

Based on your post, I don't think you want the smallest they make as there are some very tiny models. Some of my favorites that are smaller than your cold steel are, from large to small: gunny, classic hunter, bravo EDC, fox river. But these are probably too big.. . So they make mini versions of the their popular designs (ie: featherweight, mini). You're a good Dad. After all of your considerations, I say get a featherweight fox river in Elmax. But Bark rivers are not cheap. The best small value knife IMO is the cold steel mini pendleton hunter in VG1 at around $30.

If I were you I'd go to Knives Ship Free, go to the Bark River page, and then sort by lowest price. You'll find some nice small ones there.

A bark river PSK is probably something up your alley for what you're looking for. Not sure about theirvsmallest, but it is small, not "too" small though to be pretty much useless, and it can be had at a decent price, even the ELMAX Steel models aren't bank breakers.

I've got a mini-bushcrafter, and I quite like it. However I'd say its a bit small for someone without much experience. I'd go a little bigger than that, so that its at least comfortable to use. I think its small enough that mistakes could be made. But it is thin, I found in my searching for a barkie that a lot of the smaller ones are quite thick (in my opinion). I'd look at the little creek, PSK, little carver, and maybe the kalahari bushman and mini kalahari.

They are not cheap, but well worth it, if you think he will appreciate them. None of them are what I call cheap, but that's your call.

Ide go mini canadian, mini fox river, woodland special, liten bror or ultralight bushcrafter. There is also the bravo edc. They make a ton of small blades.

Off the top of my head the EPK is the smallest, although I find it to small for most tasks.

I like the mini fox river and the Bravo micro for the more useable small blades. The city knife and essential are also very popular.

Check out the Featherweight Fox River. I have one with Maple Burl handles on the way right now as a matter of fact.

Bark River and cheap not to be used in conjunction........

You can do better for about the same price.
