What is the smallest knife that you would be comfortable with using as a single EDC?

After many years of using the SAK's I have found that the Victorinox Executive willdo about everything I need done.

No, it is not a dedicated bushcraft knife.

I carry a Victorinox Recruit most days. It usually does pretty well for stuff. I think anything under about 2" starts limiting uses.

i have a David Farmer necker i really like with a 2 7/8" blade, 1/16" thick with a 3 1/2" handle.

or an ESEE Izula.

also have an EDC/Utility knife rom Mitchell Knives with a 2 7/8" blade and a 4" handle that would be fine as an only knife.

for a folder i used to carry a Spyderco Delica. sorry, while a Ladybug is fine for something extra on your keys, it's not what i want for a solo EDC.

i've got a "pocket fixed blade" from Towbin Smith with a 2 1/4" blade and 3" handle. the kydex sheath is made for pocket carry. it doesn't get carried as the only EDC knife tho, but it does get carried frequently. wouldn't really feel inadequate if that was all i had.

a Krein pocket bowie would be nice, but a Foit minimalist or a Vox Gnome might be too small.

a Fiddleback Runt would be OK

myy county has a silly ordnance that prohibits concealed carry of any knife with a blade over 3". since i CCW and have my shirt untucked that means that anything i'm gonna carry at the belt line needs to be under 3". however, i carry a ST-2-- with a 4 blade, but the pocket clip is visible, so it's not a problem with the BS reg.

I have a Fiddleback Runt, it sits in a drawer. Hard to grip for many things. I use my SAK camper every single day. I recently had a coworker tell me it was a weapon. I laughed in his face and told him it is a tool-I am the weapon directing the tool. Idiot.

I use my EWOK more than any other knife I have ever owned. It is small enough to have on my belt every waking hour and never notice it's there while nobody else notices it either. It is large enough to do most anything I need a knife to do.

I use a variety of small knives depending on what I`m doing. For nine years I carried a Victorinox Soldier, along with a Classic on my keyring. Now it varies. If I`m working around the shop, it`s a Buck 371 stockman. If going out to dinner or shopping, it`s a Victorinox Cadet. If I`m going hiking or walking, it`s either a Victorinox Forester, big Schrade 2 blade folding hunter, or my Kentucky Fieldmate. One thing is always a constant, the Classic on my keyring.

I am a older gent and prefere small sharp knives.

I carry a Spyderco Ladybug3 FRN. Its sharp and
takes care on my needs.

Hi udtjim -

I like the VIC Waiter, it has just enough blade for most routine cutting tasks, plus the requisite bottle opener, corkscrew, screwdriver, tweezers and toothpick.

The Waiter is slim and is not noticeable in pocket.

If you are also including fixed blades, then Stomper's Small Simple Scandi is a cool little knife that would work for EDC.

Good to see you posting again.

best regards -

The smallest fixed blade for me has to be about the size of a standard SAK...

I carried a SOG flash 1 for a couple months, felt a little too cheep to me but was a good knife.

If out of sight - out of mind is required, I always use my Ka-Bar Dozier 4083 in D2 steel and black micarta. In a sheath the Riverwoods Companion fills the bill for me as I'll probably hurt myself with anything smaller.

The reson that Iike the ececutive is that it cuts pretty good and never raises a eye brow
