Smallest footprint?

Every now and then, I get the idea that I might like to carry a pocket knife -- in my pants pocket! Not clipped to my pants pocket, or in my shirt pocket, or IWB (or in my travel case, where they mostly ride), just in my pocket. Problem is, I don't carry stuff in my pants pockets, especially not when wearing dress slacks; it isn't comfortable and I don't like the way it looks.

So my question is, what true one-handed opening folder (plain edge, please) has the smallest footprint? The Spyderco Ladybug is almost unnoticeable, but it really isn't a one-hand opener; the Ladybug II can be opened one-handed, but it's fully serrated (and on my keyring). So how about some suggestions?

Thanks.

How about William Henry Kestrel, maybe in CF? I've not handled it, but from the specs and images, it seems to be very small and very light (specially in CF). May not be the smalles though... but according to James Mattis can be easily clipped to shirt pocket.

Hugo.

The CRK Umfaan, WH Lancet, and Benchmade 330 are all worth looking at.

I have found Klotzli folders to be extremely thin.

James,
CF Lancet is clipped to my shirt (under my tie) as I type. Just a little too long to ride unnoticed in my pants pocket. I'm thinking maybe WH Kestrel (as Hugo suggests) or Persian, but I'm hoping to hear of something I've failed to consider.

Cool, I'll have to try that. I had a thread about unnoticeable knife carry and never got a really good suggestion - but that one is excellent.

As far as real pocket carry, a Victorinox Classic works - kinda small though.

I've been thinking about a WH Kesrel or Persian, too.

I haven't handled an Umfaan, but that might be a good possibility.

One more thought, the old slipjoints can be pretty unnoticeable - and handy.

I'd recommend the MT Mini SOCOM. You have a choice of clip or tanto blades and also serrated or non serrated. Great for pocket carry. It's also strong enough to do any task you could ask of it. Now the prices are great on these little wonders, but act fast. Thry are out of production.

Yup, Crayola is right. The cricket is awesome for the pocket. And he is also right about sharpening it. You'd better pick up a Sharpmaker too if ya don't have one. Really cool little blade.

Sometimes I catch myself assuming that everybody knows their way around a pocket knife. Then I remember what the first three letters of "assume" are.

Here are several very thin one handers: The Delica, Calypso Lt. Wt., BM 940, Spyderco Centofante, BM 330 if you want a small blade.
All of these knives leave very little print in loose or medium fitting slacks.

The clip on the Cricket can be removed. It would leave very little "print" in the pocket.
Hmmmmmm...now I have a reason (excuse) to buy one.

I mostly carry a Spyderco Dyad-Jr since I get two different blades in a thin, light package. You will have the plain edge you want, and the other blade is good for keeping your plain edge sharp! Since I got the Dyad-Jr, my Navigator doesn't get used much. Either knife fits in the watch pocket of a pair of jeans.

By all means get yourself a Klotzli, they are so thin and light. Way expensive but they are up there with the very best. Had one for a long time, was stolen from me. Swear ill get another one of these days!

Crayola, Velitrius -- Got a Cricket (and a Sharpmaker) and you're right, it's a great knife. Hmmm, maybe Paul is onto something: if I could find a CF Cricket and take the clip off???

Anthony -- the small Centofante is one of my favorites, and was my daily carry until I got my Apogee, but it's too long to go unnoticed in my pocket. Partly because even my baggy (not loose fit, baggy) jeans tend to be a little tight across the front of the thigh.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Keep 'em coming!

I've got a Ladybug, but like you said, too small. I'd personally opt for either my BM330, or more likely, my Spyderco Micarta Dyad Jr with the clip removed. It's not thin, but having both a plain and a full serrated blade makes up for it.
