And not just small but light as well.

A bottle opener, screwdriver and phillips driver. Pliers or a can opener a VERY nice bonus.

Not sure if it would be larger than I want and does not have scissors or pliers. Currently my front runner.

I am also looking at the small leathermans, such as the P4 or Micra, but they don't have a stinkin bottle opener.

Suggestions?

You do know that the screwdriver tip on the Victorinox can opener works quite nicely on phillips screws, right?

Yes they do. I own both a P4 and a Micra. Love 'em both, but carry the Micra more.

They do have bottle openers, both stinkin, but IMHO the Micra cap lifter sucks less. Either will do the job, as I can report from long experience. So can a Bic lighter, door latch, key etc., but are we savages? Gentlemen use bottle openers, at least for the first few :D .

Apparently I can't read.

I guess that's what I get for playing cards with the computer open.

Thanks guys! I think I'll pick a leatherman based on scissors vs pliers

I can't say anything about the Micra as I don't have one but the Squirt P4 is a nifty little tool, but not one I'd carry on it's own. The bottle opener is very small and I always take 2-3 tries to get a cap off. A victorinox 84mm Tinker Small would do the basics well. http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Tinker+84mm

The Squirt bottle opener is similar in shape to one found coupled with the SAK large screwdriver, but in a smaller format it doesn't grab caps as well and usually takes several attempts to open a bottle. A Micra has an opener specifically designed for its format. With careful placement itt usually does the job first time. That's one of several reasons I prefer Micra. OTOH, my wife is a SAK person to the extent of refusing to touch any of my Leathermen, even when she needs something cut or a small fixit and there is nothing else available. We agree to disagree :D

Luckily I have room in my heart for both.:D That said you'll never find me without a SAK, but I can live without a Leatherman some days.

Skeletool CX?

Has all the tools you listed, and is still pretty light. But not as small as (i think) you are looking for.

I am currently decided on a Leatherman P4.

Thanks for all of the input and I am sure that I will end up with more than one of them.

It's a great little tool the P4, much smaller than i expected but still handy.

Last one is next to a 58mm SAK, it really folds up small. :)

Have you looked at Leatherman Juice S2?

Combo bottle & can opener, 3 flat screwdrivers, phillips screwdriver, pliers, and scissors.

The Juice S2 looks nice but what I really want next is a small, very easily pocketable tool. I EDC quite a few things and don't want any unnecessary bulk in my pockets. Wearing untucked shirts and putting nothing (other than a Glock, IWB) on my belt limits usable space.

I probably won't miss the scissors since I can cut with a knife.

That little P4 may be nearly perfect.

I actually EDC the P4 in the office along with a folder these days. I used to EDC the S2, but since I started carrying a separate folder it becomes too crowded. Juice S2 is about the same thickness as SAK Tinker (and SAK Compact in your first post), but it's slightly shorter and wider. If carrying SAK Tinker doesn't bother you, the S2 won't be much more noticeable. In my opinion the S2 is still very pocketable if you don't make it share space with a folder.

Currently when not at work I have:

Front left pocket: 2oz flip top fox labs OC and Fenix P3D-CE

Front right pocket: Cell phone, folding knife (currently CQC-8), keychain with carabiner attached to belt loop containing keys, peanut lighter, Boker keycom, Fenix P1D-CE and Fenix E01.

Belt: IWB or OWB holster with Glock 19, sometimes Glock 26.

Rear right pocket, wallet.

At work I carry a smaller (keychain refil) fox labs OC and lose the P3D-CE, but the rest remains the same.

When I get my hands on a P4 I may try to stuff it into the 'watch pocket' within my right front pocket. Rear left pocket is an option as well, or maybe even trying to get it onto my keychain.

I almost always wear a specific carpenter style of jeans that has a nice, usable pocket on the side of my right leg. I can put an additional (clipped) folding knife or flashlight over there. Might be a millie soon, sometimes it's an Olight M20 Warrior Premium R2.

As you can see....crowded.

The P4 will fit nicely in your watch pocket, because that's where I put mine in (along with a Fenix L0D). When I wore jeans at work I actually kept the Juice S2 in the watch pocket; It showed a bit, but not enough to be a nuisance. I would show the S2 in a jeans watch pocket to you, if not for the fact that it got stolen from me last year.

If you wear carpenter jeans, I would put the Emerson in the side pocket and the S2 in the front right. In my opinion a multitool is much more useful than a 2nd folder or 4th flashlight.

The problem with a multi tool in the front right pocket is that my cell phone rides loose in that pocket, down at the bottom. The keys are held up about midway by the carabiner attached to the belt loop (loop slightly forward of the pocket to keep keys/etc away from folding knife), and the knife is clipped towards the 'rear' of the pocket.

If I put anything else in that pocket, well, I don't see it working unless it is small and fits in the wach pocket without making it too difficult to reach my hand in and retrieve the phone. I will not stand for anything else riding loose as it will inevitably sit down in the bottom of the pocket with my phone and bulge far too much.

You are right, a mulit tool would be far more practically useful than a 4th light (well, I consider mine to be 2.5 lights) or second folder. The reason I sometimes carry the fourth light is that it has MUCH better throw than the ones I EDC. That nice, wide, deep reflector sees to that....which is why it is too big to EDC in the regular pockets.

Maybe what I need is a nice mid size multi tool I can clip to that side pocket, plus the P4 to keep in a watch pocket, or other pocket, when not wearing the carpenter jeans...such as at work. Anything not horribly big or heavy that is equipped wih a strong and reliable clip could go in the currently unused side of leg pocket....I don't see leatherman's with clips though.
