I'm sure many of you are familiar with FRS two way radios, the new generation of small walkie talkies with a range of from 1-5 miles. Radio Shack has a pair (2 pack) of FRS two way, 14 channel radios with a range of 1-2 mile which normally cost $39.99 per pair on sale for $9.99! That's 75% off! But it gets better. If you buy these radios by 6/29/03 (Sunday) you can go to radioshack.com and download a rebate for $20.00! So in the end Radio Shack will give you a free pair of FRS radios and a ten dollar bill. To make it easier to find the rebate form, go to www.slickdeals.net. This site has new deals listed daily.

You'll probably want to bookmark the slickdeals.net website as it's a great place to find deals on all sorts of stuff. Today they had a link to a 35% discount on a bunch of rarely discounted Oakley glasses.

I have no afilliation with www.slickdeals.net, but have found some awesome deals there. The whole site is all about finding tremendous deals on stuff. They update their site pretty much daily with new deals tehy've found.

They have a link to a New From Dell P4 2.2ghz laptop with a 15" screen and a 30 gb hard drive for a net of $674.00 after rebates and discounts. Amazing.

Happy shopping.

Never mind, I guess I should read closer. They must have discovered there error, but the rebate form is on a link from that site. AWESOME!!

jmxcpter Thanks allot!!! Not only did I buy a set, About 5 family members and friends did as well. If your reading this and haven't done it yet, Today is your last day. If you have $10, then go to Radio Shack today and make out like a bandit!! :D

Boy...This is not "Community" content, but I'm divided between moving it to Gadgets & Gear or GB&U. We'll see where it ends up. ;)

This is not "Community" content

I would have to disagree with you Ron. I am most likely wrong, but I feel a thread about good deals or free stuff that doesn't revolve around knives should stay here. But your the man! ;)

I know things have "slipped" and remained in the wrong forum in the past. It's simply too difficult to address everything.

My rationale for moving it was based on the definitions of the various forums listed below. Here are those descriptions:
  • Community Center Forum: "This area is intended for announcements, humor, off-topic subjects, planning get-togethers, and general chit chat. Blah."
  • Gadgets & Gear Forum: "He who dies with the most toys - wins! Your place for discussion of flashlights to firearms and all cool things in between!"
  • The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Forum (otherwise known as the "GB&U" forum): "This is your area to tell about your experiences (Good or Bad) with dealers, sellers, and individuals you've bought, sold, and traded with." [Also read into this, "stores."]
I obviously moved this thread from the Community Center to Gadgets & Gear because of the non-knife, "toys" content. You'll notice that the "Community Center" descriptions is the weakest one of these three to support this thread. I still think moving it to GB&U would have been the better choice in that the original post was addressing jmx's experience and/or opinions of SlickDeals.net. It's still a possibility that this thread may still ultimately be moved to GB&U by another moderator who wishes to exercise their better judgment on this thread.

Not all decisions the moderators make are perfect, so I hope BFC members will exercise some good judgment and patience with decisions and actions we apply. But in a case like this one, I'm trying to do the thread justice by relocating it into a forum where it best fits with other thread’s content. I’m also thinking of those who do historical searches for various topics/companies/products, setting them up for success by allowing them to glean as broad a base of information about their topic/company/product by searching just the most relevant forum which topically best represents their inquiry.

I hope you understand. :)

I posted this in the Community forum because I wanted to share my find with the Community. I thought of posting it in Gadgets & Gear, but didn't because slickdeals is not only about a gadget, although the FRS radios certainly are just that, but you can find deals on services, publications etc. I would never have thought about posting it in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly because nobody actually hangs out there and thereby, no one would have seen the post.

Frankly, I find the whole discussion about where it was proper to sopt a thread like this a waste of mental energy. I could understand if I wrote a long detailed post about how I constructed my newest RC car and put it in the Buck forum, that would deserve moving, or how to program my new cell phone posted in General knife discussion, that should be moved, but c'mon guys. This thread should be a non-issue.

(don't read into this "stores" because slickdeals.net doesn't sell anything! It's an informational site!)

I viewed it as an anoucment of how to get free Radios and $10 cash. Something I wish every single person on this site read before today! But the sale is over today, so it doesn't matter too much. Ron, you moved it because you thought it belonged here, thats good enough for me ;)
